So in addition to the new phone number requirements on CL, they now limit how many ads you can post. I post, and delete my ad every day, and today I just got this message when I tried to post:

You have exceeded the posting volume limit for this account.

Apparently, those with multiple phone numbers (pimps?), who shill like crazy have won the CL wars. The business is this city is getting pulled into the gutter by all the low class pimps, agencies, clubs, price-cutting, disease-infested & B&S whores.

I'm not bitter. Just trying to pay my rent like everyone else. Well, everyone except for the agencies, clubs, price-cutting, disease-infested & B&S whores who are greedy fucks just trying to get their next fix of whatever.

Fuck this business. I'm done.

Invest a little in your business. Try the following :

1) Go to Walmart or the closest Virgin Mobil place.
2) Buy the cheapest Virgin Mobil phone they have. I am not sure what it is but I know you can get one really cheap maybe $25. (It comes with free voice mail, battery charger, and call display)
3) Buy a Virgin Mobil phone card. The cheapest one is $15 it lasts for $45 days.
4) Use the internet to activate card. Use the phone for only CL ads. If there are calls on the phone let them go to voice mail and use your other phone to check the voice mail so you don't rack charges on the cell.
5) Continue to advertise as normal with the new number. When you exceed your limit of CL ads on the Virgin Mobil phone, switch back to the other your CL account. (Check with C.L. to find out how long the lock out period for any one phone number.)
6) Rotate the phone account whenever you exceed your limit. After the initial investment in the cell phone you need only to top with $15 top card every 45 days or when required.

This is just one idea. There are lots of other but in the interest of not upset the mods I will leave it at that.

AJ I know how you feel, I am trying to just pay my bills as well.

I have had the same thing happen to me on CL, got that message. So what I did was wait a few hours (about 6) to see what was happening. Then I posted again and voila...I was allowed to post. So my suggestion is to wait a few hours and then try again. Oh and do not delete your postings. I keep mine up because you never know what these guys are doing. I have had many customers contact me based on very old ads.

Things are not going over so well for me lately either. I post everyday here and on CL and still nothing for the past week! Yes, honestly. Things are hurting, but I have other things going for me and once those take off I will be done here too.I got this insulting email the other day, that just proved to me the state of this business and where things are heading...here is a part of the email

Furthermore on your ads you list prices of both 200 and 220. So clearly there is no set price. (furthermore the other "jessi" on craigs list gets a hotel and charges 100 and hour).

$200/hour is definately above average in price... yet you list nothing that makes you look above average. If you don't want to lower your price increase your services.... not that anyone knows what services you provide. What is your specialty? Are you into bdsm? What makes you different from the other escorts?

Also, sell yourself better. Have better pics, show off the goods. Guys want to see what they are purchasing. You have a good face shot, that should be included in each add, as well as a body and clevage shot. Don't try to hide your body, guys want to see what they are getting.
Your type is out there show the goods.

That right there just shows you the state of this business and where it is heading. A.J. you are right-it is going to the gutter! Guys are wanting more for less-and most of the time getting what they pay for.

$80 and $100 girls are where it is at now. On top of that they are expected to get a hotel, etc for the client. Just to break even they must see about 3 guys a day.

Oh and it is not just CL, it is everywhere. I recently started putting my ad back up on eros and cityvibe. Very expensive places to advertise, but hopefully it will work.

Then there will be the types that will try and give you tips (all of which costs money and give mediocre results) such as get a better website, new photos, etc. Been down that road and seen little results.

AJ my best suggestion is to find another job and if you cannot find one make up your own. I have been hustling for years before I started working in the sex business. Landscaping, cleaning, painting, all pay well if you are willing to work hard. Start your own business. Or you can get in to another form of sex work-phone sex, webcam, porn etc. Right now I am working another (unrelated) job and trying to get my porn business off the ground.

Does CL charge you for the ads or are they free?

If they are free then shut up. They are not running a charity for your benefit.
If you are paying for them then they have every right to set whatever price and restrictions they want to set. You do the same thing when you sell access to your pussy.

If, as you say, the CL ads are better at generating leads than other media then that is a perfect example of free enterprise at its best. They are popular therefore they can charge more or have more restrictions.

Stop whining. Go work as a Loblaws checkout of you are so unhappy that life is not being handed to you on a silver platter. Perhaps then you will learn to appreciate what you have a bit more.

Ladies,

I advertise on RedZone. I don't use CL, Eros or CityVibe.

I find RZ reaches the gents who are NOT into hobbying... they're traveling or just new to the scene... and after you provide them great service, they always call up for more.

Unlike the three other directories, I've seen RZ in the back of magazines and that's why I think it reaches a larger audience, especially people who are not comfortable with computers. RZ has been available for at least 20 years, I remember seeing it in my early teens... so they must be doing something right? The other way they find out about RZ, when I ask, is "A friend told me about RZ." Personally, I didn't know about the three others until I started surfing TERB.

I should add though, I do have a career to complement this one, so I'm very comfortable with the fact that RZ gives me about 6-7 calls per day, in addition to 3-4 e-mails per day and from there I only take on one, maybe two for that very day and other times it's pre-booking/inquires. One thing I did note is that I'm never booked on the weekends, I'm always called during the weekdays when the Gents are surfing while at work.
Perhaps I should try CL during a weekend sometime.

An advertiser can post about 4-5 ads on craigslist per day for FREE. If that doesn't bring you enough business for the day than PAY FOR AN AD or find other free sites to advertise on. There sure are plenty of them around.

Those rules are in place because nobody wants to click on the same ad over and over again.

It seem like a sane rule to me. Why is it that you feel you are entitled to SPAM the board with just your ads?

I'm no expert, but I would think most guys call with their mind already made up (after seeing pics, reviews, or just taking a leap). I'm not sure why guys would be calling and nothing happening other than for things falling through on the sp's end.
