I love hockey but there's too many threads.

Israel 0 England 0

This result isn't as bad as it looks. The city's exuberant nightlife nothwithstanding, not even Brazil could score in Tel Aviv. Jews are known for their stubborness and catenaccio is a defensive system that rewards stubborness. England will probably score eight goals against Bewitched, on Wednesday, and all will be forgotten.

Under 21 England 3 Italy 3

This is a match I loved to have seen. Giampaolo Pazzini is the first football player to score a goal in the new Wembley and went on bag a hat-trick. When he was substitued late in the match, the crowd of 60,000 gave him a standing ovation...sometimes even the English know how to show respect.

Italy vs Scotland preview

This is going to be a very difficult match; the warrior Scots will hold nothing back. With his strong club play of late, Max Tonetto will be wearing the Azzurri for the first time. One player that should not be starting is Fabio Canavarro, at this time Italy's defense is stronger without him. He should follow in Paolo Maldini's footsteps and retire gracefully - he has nothing left to prove.

I'll bend it like........
I like your analysis Von. The England result is disappointing, not just because of the result but because of the lack of quality results since the world cup.

The U 21 match was extremely entertaining from kick off. Pazzini played an excellent match and a draw was a fare result.

I'm also interested to see what happens with Scot and Italy.

I've read many soccer sites, and a lot of them say bench Lampard. How come everyone outside of the English national team know him and Gerrard cant play together yet they continually do so with poor results?

Is it McClaren fault or the fault of a bunch of overpriced premadonna's?

We do need a better coach that can construct a better team. Maybe even bench Lampard.
If you have a team of superstars that are not performing like a unit then 9 times out of
10 its the coach's fault.
He shouldnt play Lamps and Gerrard together, its now obvious they dont team up well.

What England need is a proven world class coach like Mourinho, Ferguson or Hiddink.
My guess is that may fix the problem.

Probably wont happen though, the FA has this dumb habit of signing these guys for 5 years or more, that makes it hard to break contract.

Its because a coach with no guts is terrified of benching someone like Lampard.
Mourinho would bench Mother Theresa if he had to.

We've scored 1 goal in 5 matches, and looked terrible doing it.

It's time to run him out of town

Hey, England is still paying Sven, perhaps it is time to make him earn his money.:)

They still have to play Russia, coached by Hiddink, twice. Although they still have Croatia and Israel at home. It's going to be tight. How come Andorra can score against Israel but England Can't!!!lol

Right on!! he is either tactically daft or scared of the Big player. He plays a 4-4-2 with one winger and four CBs?

You know what England neeeds my friend? A good finisher. They create enough chances but nobody buries the ball at the back of the net. If they had someone like Eto or Drogba at their disposal they'd be laughing.

FSW is broadcasting Estonia/Israel & Cyprus/Czech Republic tomorrow.

I dont know if TLN will be showing the Italy/Scotland game.

TLN however will be broadcasting Bayern Munich/Milan & Roma/Man U live next week.

And no live games on TSN again!

Rai International carries the Azzurri.

MacLaren isn't an improvement over Sven, but that's only the tip of the iceberg; England is not producing any world class coaches.

In order to produce a world class coach he has to get experience with a top club; unfortunately the top clubs of the EPL are coached by stranieri (foreigners) with no room for English coaches. This is a crisis of England's own making. On the flipside, look at Italy; all the top clubs are coached by Italians. If Roberto Donadoni goes - and I hope he doesn't - there are half a dozen candidates to take his place.

And as for England, after his humbling at the Bernebau funhouse, Fabio Capello is available.:D

Bewitched scored against Israel...with ten men even?!?!

That is too preposterous to be kosher.
