Turkey were all too deep and no threat at all
That's the problem with catenaccio, if you can't create fast breaks then you get stuck. That's why I'm picking Nicolo Barella as the MVP of the match. His assignment was to mark Chaneloglu, he did it admirably while getting relentlessly fouled by the Turks. He's not that big but he's a Sardi with the heart of a John Tonelli. The match turned when Under was substituted in, immediately Mancini brought in De Lorenzo (Roma vs Lazio). The Turks were going to snatch a goal which opened up the pitch for The Azzurri.

This is the last time I'm posting Sid's legendary rant, enjoy his sistemacci fellas...funny thing is Mancini played 5 back, Locatelli plays as a trequartista for his club.

Was Turkey that bad or Italy just so good? I used to find Italy so boring. So defensive... Even in their greatest they would always win 1 - 0 But this is not the Italy I saw today. My son has predicted Italy to go all the way. He may be correct ;)

Cheers,
I doubt Italy will go deep. They have difficulties scoring goals, even against a weak opponent like Turkey was today.

Chiellini had freedom to roam, Locatelli was covering for him. Max Allegri is back as Juve coach, he wants to bring back Pjanic. If he believes that Pjanic is better than Locatelli he's a massimo stronzato.

danmand must be beside himself with fear, Denmark faces mighty Finland.

That is going to be tough. And then there is Belgium.

PS: What is Italy going to do when Chiellini dies of old age?

Italy 2 Turkey 0

England did not call up their best team player. One that bring the grits! Jamie Vardy! So they won't make it pass the group stage ;)
I do not rate Vardy as the best player. he is a great player, but I think Kane is a better striker than him. Vardy has officially retired from International Football.
He just somehow did not perform at the international level like he did with Leicester.
Was disappointed with Turkey's performance. Italy were worth their value for a 3-0 scoreline.

England is like the Maple Leafs of international soccer. Every tournament so far has been disappointing.
If England does reach the final, then they will have the Home advantage. This time they do have some very talented young players who will really put in a shift.

Giorgio is Brad Pitt's twin brother, separated at birth. We will get Acerbi and Bastoni at some point, Giorgio and Nando are both past 30. Have you forgotten how Acerbi roughed up Brut in the CL?

I do like the new format, the Euro should be Continental. I'm relieved there were no Bocellismos during the opening ceremonies. They kept the fireworks away from the flying drummers and two beefy dudes beneath the flying Vestal Virgin...who didn't look like a virgin at all.

I'm very happy that Janine Beckie is part of the TSN broadcast crew, she deserves it. Christine Sinclair is being selfish, she's lost a half dozen steps. Canada not being in the medals at the Brazil Olympics is her fault, she turned into a pylon against Germany. It should be Janine and Ashley Lawrence's team, retire now Chris.

I guess you say, what could make me feel this way, Janine, Janine, Janine! Talkin bout Janine.

I think Bastoni is the great new hope for Italy defensively. He reads the game well.

Are you going to watch Denmark vs Finland?

Denmark has very good defensive and midfield players, Simon Kjaer and Andreas Christensen are solid.

They miss (like Italy) a brilliant forward.

Sure, could only watch 10 minutes of the Swiss vs the Rutles. Is Il Ragazzino starting?

In other news: The Friedkin Family must be making a statement, "Lo Speciale" put in a bid for Donnarumma. Mino Raiola is a fat pos!

No, Denmark has a surplus of midfielders.

Skov Olsen is injured.

You'll have to translate Mandrill lol.

The Rutles are The Welsh Beatles - from Wrexham.

No, they were from "Rutland", a county in Eastern England which was legislated out of existence in the 1960's. Hence the joke name.

Cymru = Wales

Am Byth = Forever!
