A WISE INVESTMENT IF TRUE
IF #28 IS $1.25 MILLION
AND NICK A . @ 1 MILLION
ERIC L AND JASON A @ $1.5 MILLION IS NOT TOO BAD
ONE YEAR FIX TO LET OLD CONTRACTS FALL OFF THE BOOKS
WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS THE WISE HADSOMESUGARDADDY

For 1.5 million.........what do they have to lose??

I dont see anything on the market for 1.5 million that comes remotely close to what a battered up Lindors does. Even the past couple of seasons in with the Rangers weren't all that bad. 72 games his first season in New York, 81 the following season, and he played half a season the last year. His point production isn't what it used to be, either because he's not as aggresive as before or he was with a very bad Ranger team. Regardless, he's still good for about 50-60 points a year............your not going to find anyone else at 1.5 million giving you that kind of production.

My final anaylsis..........I would sign him for $1.5 million......but not much more than that.

-Leafs After Lindros… as a defenseman?

Reports out of the Fan 590 suggest that the Toronto Maple Leafs are inching closer to signing the "Big E"…. as a defenseman.

It seems rather atypical, Lindros playing defense. But he certainly has all the tools. Lindros has an effective combination of size and skating ability, and played some defense in his junior years. As Lindros reaches the later stages of his career, converting him to a defenseman sounds a little audacious, but also adventuresome. After all he is the type of defenseman the Leafs need, but cannot get for the right price off the UFA market. Lindros' price has been named at a very reasonable figure, and with the expected signing announcement of Jason Allison, he is better off on the blue line then centering our third line.

But I still believe our best use of resources is to do some position juggling up front. If Sundin is willing to play the wing, we could see a very offensive top line of Sundin-Lindros-O'Neill. While Allison should have no troubles centering the second line, with Stajan falling in behind on the 3rd.

Okay, in regards to the rumour of Lindros playing defense. First let me start off by saying that I don't think its a wise move, but..........there is precendence in Leaf land with this.

The Leafs back in the 60's did a similar stunt with a now Hall of Famer.........Red Kelly. The difference though is that Red Kelly was a defenseman the first 12 years of his career.......when traded to the Leafs, Punch Imalach converted him to a center.

keep him away from NJ

If the leafs sign Lindros then they have to do a couple things which is keep him the hell away from Scott Stevens. Stevens looks at someone wrong and they get a concussion. Also since he has 8 concussions it might be a good idea to keep shiny things away from him so he will not be distracted. But for 1.5 Million it is a good gamble.

All bonuses, if met, apply to next year's cap. So if Allison and Lindros, sign bonus laden contracts , then the Leafs will have less cap room next year , provided of course that they reach the targets
where did you hear that? According to the new CBA the only time bonuses are even allowed in contracts nowadays is only if the player falls into one of 3 serious categories:

PERFORMANCE BONUSES

What players may earn in performance bonuses?

"Performance bonuses will only be permissible for the following types of players: (1) players on entry-level contracts; (2) players signing one-year contracts after returning from long-term injuries (players with 400 or more games who spent 100 or more days on injured reserve in the last year of their most recent contract); and senior veteran players who sign a one-year contract after the age of 35."

So the money does not count against the cap at all for this year or next. The only stipulation is that a players contract:

"not be in excess of 20% of the Club's upper limit in total annual compensation. In 2005-06, no player will be permitted to contract for total compensation in excess of $7.8 million in any year of his contract."

And since neither Allison or Lindros would be making this kinda coin, it would be a good risk for the Leafs to take Allison and Lindros (if they decide to take the latter).

That is not true............the bonuses do not count toward this years contract. But if the contract is for two years, or one year plus a option, then the bonuses would count towards the Cap for the following year.

The best part of the deal is if you sign Lindros, you get his brother as a throw-in to work the gate.

Ummm....I didn't make it up....I copy and pasted from the actual CBA. .......And I didnt say that it counted to this years cap at all.......Actually in reference to your point about the bonus counting on contracts 2 years or more, I was speaking specifically in reference to Allison and Lindros (thought thats what this thread was about) and I could be wrong but I thought I had melted all the wax outta my ears when I heard them announce that Allison signed a one year contract - no option, which therefore means in response to an earlier comment by someone who said allisons contract will count against the cap next year, they were mistaken.

that was my very unclear point :D

Better yet, sign Eric, coax Brett outta retirement, throw em all on a line with Allison and you get "The Concussion Line"......if we only had signed Kariya and kept MacCauley........

Dougie Doull and Kevin Brown play in the SJHL with us hackers :p http://members.tripod.com/sloppyjhl/

although Allison and Lindros have had many injuries they've also had a couple of years to rest their bodies and train, hopefully it's done them some good.

for 1.5 it's worth the risk, far cry from the 6.5 Lindros made with the Flyers

It'll be an interesting year in Toronto and the NHL

No offense, but if that site is for some sort of business (Sloppy Joes, I believe) they should find somebody who knows something (anything!) about web design. I had to remove my eyes with a melon-baller when I got to the yellow text on white background. Because of that, what is that site all about?

what do you want for a Bar league. the "free" site is basically just an info site for us players and the forum is for us to bicker at each other online, nothing more ;)
