My biggest issue is the fear of waiting a long time to recharge on long trips and the depreciation as new technology renders the old models useless. I'll cave in half way and go Hybrid first.
One my cars is electric and this a valid concern. Not all rechargering (401 excepted) stations are nigh speed. I use the car in town mostly and charge at home. It's a bit of a pain. It cost me $1000 to put a high speed charger in my garage. Use the gas gusslers for road trips.

I bought an Audi Q8 e-tron and the car is pleasure to drive - so fast, so stable etc. Best driving car I've ever had.
Makes me not want to kill Justin every time I need to fill up although I did have to pay the prick a small amount of luxury tax.

My friend had a RAV4 hybrid and said he would never buy another hybrid. He had it 4 years and got rid of it and bought a Highlander(non hybrid version).
What was the issue with RAV4 hybrid?
I rather buy a hybrid than go full EV at this point, due to lack of infrastructure.
I think there is alot of disinformation out there about EV, the tires wears out faster, not true, though Tesla will suck you dry for their tires, just get an alternative tires. The only main issue I heard of is insurance will refuse to repair EV, since the repair costs are usually too high, so they payout instead, hence the higher depreciation rate set/influenced by... insurance companies lol.. this mostly applies to Tesla because repairs are mostly done by Tesla.. so fuck Tesla and buy another EV instead.
The china EV are further ahead than Tesla, BYD cars looks amazing. The tik toks on them are crazy, and those videos are done by westerners.

I admit the luxury tax for a new vehicle really burns my ass!

It would be smart to remove the luxury tax from EVs to encourage more folks to buy more EVs.

One thing the owners of electric vehicles don't tell ya is all the issues they're having because they're simply embarrassed. You find out once you join the club.

A friend owns a Tesla Model Y. Once his lease is up, he's done with electrics. Range of electric vehicles during a winter is a joke. It seems that nearly every day owners are gambling whether or not they'll get stranded somewhere. A few times my buddy was stranded and had to Uber home. Add that to the expense list of owning an electric vehicle. Glorified golf carts.

If one strictly does city driving, say up to a few hundred km a day or less it's not a bad thing having an EV as a second vehicle.

He said the gas savings was very minimal since the vehicle only ran on pure battery power if you were travelling 40km/hr or slower. And no there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. That's that way it was designed.

It's an insanely expensive smartphone on wheels with crazy secondary costs and massive risks.
And poorly built too. Especially Teslas. And they have no soul.

Yeah this Chinese EV manufacturer was offering battery swaps. Instead of charging. You drive in and it changes the battery in a couple mins and you go on your way.

What didn't he like? I have an Outlander PHEV and I love it. I fill up about every 2 weeks now but my daily commute is more than the battery range and I can't charge at the office. Overall, I'm extremely pleased. I am aware that I paid a lot more than I would have for the traditional ICE version but I get the pleasure of deluding myself by thinking I'm helping save the planet. ;)

Maybe that was the way it worked with his, but I can drive on the highway at 120 without the gas kicking in. Only time the gas 'helps' is if I need to rapidly accelerate. The technology is improving every year.

This argument that EV owners make "I'm saving on gas" is ridiculous. You're paying thousands of $$$ upfront vs ICE vehicle. How is that Saving???

Suppose some people like to get fcked in the bum and call it a prostate massage. Good for you!

His was a hybrid, yours is a PHEV. Big difference.

Agree.
Base model F-150(ICE) starts at $46,600
Base model F-150 Lightning starts at $61,395 and only goes 386KM

I can buy a lot of gas with the $14,795 and go alot farther than 386km on a tank.

EV range given by manufacturer is Best Case Scenario. Real life mileage is much lower. A/C, heat, music etc... everything affect the mileage. And who can forget all the EVs getting our of juice in a -30 degree weather this winter. Real life range in extreme cold conditions is below 100km or even less.

Lol! What a pile of bullshit. I've had no issues whatsoever and my range is fine. I love how it's always a friend that has a problem.
