I used to get those classes and if you want a more moving visual, it's a museum display in Ottawa that shows a class of public school kids hiding under their desks with the nose cone of a ICBM tearing through the classroom ceiling.
We had a few classes in the same course on the fear of the "next nuclear war" being a major driver for the North Americans. I still remember my teacher explaining that in the American's eyes the next would be the first, since in the first no one "important" had died and the US had a god given right to drop nuclear bombs anywhere they wanted. I still find it odd how history can be so different when you are exposed to it in different school systems :)

Buddy, relax....... I'm just joking.... I make fun of Americans all the time on here.... lol.....

Excuse us. Canadians and for that matter Brits have only recently become foreigners and we aren't very good at it yet. Ah PJ O'Rourke he eases the pain.

No I mean ah.

and in ah beer, the cause of and solution to all of life's problems.

Or ah TV, Teacher, mother, secret lover.

In this case, used in the delight mode.

Although ask would be a perfectly cromulent word to use, even if it changes the meaning.
You're the only human I know that actually regularly uses that made up word. It's like typing in over sized fuschia font, only shorter.

I doubt it is anywhere as annoying as enlarged fushia font. Nowhere in the same league. Unless you are one of those people who think grammar makes you free or born without any sense of whimsy, or perhaps just desperate to get a dig in. I also don't use it always, only when it is called for. I enjoy it. I know one other person who uses it in real life. I will not rest until cromulent passes bazinga in usage, not raising the bar very high, but you have to start somewhere.

Anyhow

I am not alone at least. Only a stick in the mud like yourself could get your panties in a knot over my use of the word.

Let's just say all fathers are somewhat dysfunctional...........to one degree or another.
Mine wasn't. Mother was a bit of a nag, but it was obvious it was because she cared deeply. The old man was golden, couldn't ask for any better. Worked, kept us financially unworried. Encouraged reading and literacy. Drove us to the hockey rink at ungodly hours. Spent plenty of time with us on a social basis. Tried to be as fair as possible with me and my bro. Did the whole married til death thing. Never with the ultra violence or any sort of violence.

Not here P. Mine wasn't perfect, but he was always there for his family and never failed us.

Don't try to equate dysfunctional with imperfection, it won't float.

You're very fortunate then. My Dad's love was conditional.
If I did better in school, he'd love me more. If I did what he wanted me to do, he'd love me more. Whatever I did, was never quite good enough for him. His current marriage is dysfunctional. They have a co-dependant relationship and his wife controls his every move. Really......totally sickening.

That sounds familiar, although best I could hope for was less negative. :(
