the funny thing, when i go to a bank up here and get my cash changed from canadian to american i get the right value of the $ when i am in the states coming back and i switch the money over i get what they want to give.

rough but not real numbers. i give 200$ canadian to the bank get 210$ roughly, i gave the american bank 200$ american and asked for canadian and after a lot of confusion i finally got 180$ back. seems odd considering ours is worth more.

You should've refused such an exchange rate and tell them to shove it.

I was downtown Sunday and there was this babe with sexy street punk clothes (if I may say so) holding up a sign for money (I presume as I only saw her from the side and rear). She looked very healthy to me.

There's a panhandler outside my LCBO who plays a recorder. Badly, but at least he tries to do something for money.

I give him change every now and then.

But panhandling outside of booze stores is also so blatant, they aren't even trying to hide where they are gonna throw all their money away.

yes it does make no sense cuz i was drunk and getting the numbers wrong. what i was trying to say is that they don't care what their dollar is worth, they give you what they think is fair or what their dollar is worth in their opinion.

These unfortunate people on the streets have a relatively shitty life. Many have drug and alcohol addictions. In the best of times, "normal" middle class and rich people have a hard time kicking these addictions. Imagine how hard it is when the only thing that makes your day bearable is getting drunk or stoned?

Fuck it, if the person catches me in the right mood, I'll give them a couple bucks. I figure that if they use it to buy booze, cigarettes or drugs, at least they didn't smash and grab something through a car window.

And their miserable life is just a little bit more bearable for a short time..
