This guy's going down just a question of how with his lawyer's advice he manages the process. Guilty plea at the start of the trial is my guess for an agreed upon sentence of at least six years.
I'm with Rafterman on this, I don't see him getting anything more than 3 or 4 years. Not with his money, the connections, no way.

Ironically enough, I was visiting someone at Toronto General the other day and right at the Munk (wing) entrance, a list of donors....................................."The Muzzo Family".
That weirded me out for a second, considering just happened.

A week later and more people have been hurt and killed on our roads. Tractor trailer smashes into a row of cars near Ajax. So far, 4 dead, including 2 brothers age 12 and 10.

On average, 5-6 people die in Canada every day in motor vehicle collisions.

Rockslinger, could you tell us, tell everyone who has ever wondered, why do you interrupt threads with off - tangent posts? Do you do it on purpose? Do you do it for the attention? Or are you just so socially inept that you cannot see that you are irritating people over and over by inserting your crap where it does not belong?

How many people have to tell you before you realize you are doing something that bothers so many people.

Or is that part of the plan???

That's 1,800 to 2,200 deaths a year. To the people and families affected, they are all tragic. Of course, even more tragic when young children are involved like this one and the later one on Friday near Ajack.

Lets see what transpires. And if he learnt anything from this tragedy.
People of his ilk generally don't. He grew up privileged, entitled, had to work for little and has likely been surrounded by enablers his whole life - given what he wanted and whenever expected. You don't suddenly learn a sense of responsibility overnight. His record of traffic and public intoxication offenses speak to as much.

Guilty plea at the start of the trial
Not likely. I hope I am wrong.

from what I've read about this character he's arrogant and feels he's privileged and as such I think he will fight this trying everything in the book to discredit witnesses and evidence.
Agreed, as above. Regardless what he may feel, his every utterance and action from this point forward is going to be at the direction of his lawyer/family; I sincerely doubt they would permit him to plead 'guilty' even if he so chose. As others have alluded, a family like this is going to stick together no matter what, and do whatever needed to 'win'. They come before everything and everyone else.

The following two cases might give us an idea of the potential sentence for Marco Muzzo, if he pleads or is found guilty.

Anthony Curuso, who ran over and killed Christopher Skinner, in a plea bargain gets 8.5 years.

Sabastian Prosa who killed a father and his daughter will likely be sentenced to-day.

P.S. There is a case now in front of the court of a taxi driver who runs over and kills a rollerblader/rollerboarder.

And that's only the number of deaths. Think of how many are injured. Driving is inherently dangerous.

Caruso isn't comparable, he beat the guy severely and then deliberately ran him over and drove off

Sentence for Prosa today - Prosa - five years in wrong-way crash that killed father, daughter

Think this case is more comparable to Muzzo's. Caruso intentionally ran Skinner down and left the scene.

"In his ruling, Judge Glenn Hainey said the results of Prosa’s behaviour were “catastrophic,” however he said he did not feel the eight-year sentence being sought by the Crown was appropriate."

Eight years isn't appropriate? Really? Oh right, he's a nice guy. SMH

He only killed a man and his daughter, after all.
I cannot stand considerations of 'good character' being brought into evidence or impacting sentencing.

I believe Muzzo's lawyer alleged that his client’s previous history of (non-criminal) offenses shall have no bearing at trial, yet Probas (a similar case) was allowed to submit substantial documentation from character witnesses supporting the notion that he is just a 'good kid' who made a mistake. I imagine Muzzo will do the same.

'Three years later and he can’t finally muster even a few words of sorrow?
The time for words was at the beginning of this horrific process, when he should have said, “Guilty” and spared them this agonizing process.'
Writer (despite the paper) hits the nail on the head here; I'm sure we'll see the parallel with Muzzo's trial.

...but has nothing to do with drunk driving or Muzzo.

Someone characterized him as down-to-earth.

Maybe he is, but honestly, to drive after 'drinking' (I don't mean a glass of wine at dinner time or one beer), and to drive recklessly, doesn't show a regard for other motorists's safety or the rules of the road.

Agree not comparable on all 4's but I didn't want to start a new thread so I added Curuso and that taxi driver who killed the skateboarder to this thread. So, it appears the penalty for killing people with your vehicle is less severe if you are drunk (also if you are an elderly driver).

Stupid behavior, but there was no intent to kill anyone. Five years seems about right considering people with intent to injure or kill get about the same or a bit more time.

How much time should this girl have received? Stupid behavior with similar results, father and daughter dead. Quebec driver who helped ducks gets 90-day jail.

If it turns out the trucker that ploughed into the stopped cars on the 401 was tired and should not have been driving or was texting, should he do 10 years?
