What`s the dealio, smllms? I thought you were rip-roarin` concerned about the issue...don`t want to let a little logic posted by someone actually in the business get in the way of your driveby speechifyin` now, do ya?
I`m sorry. I only sporadically check this forum.

So higher exposure to specific risk factors (number of partners/ hours of driving/ handling firearms) does not make you automatically less safe over the long run compared with others engaged in a comparable activity. I will submit that most professionals minimize exposure to unnecessary risk where many non-professionals mentally minimize basic risk..a point you make yourself.
Your argument has already been discussed in the thread. It was introduced in the first response. Please read the earlier posts.

I know smllms is generalizing but also are you. Not all civilian ladies have one night stands without condoms and not all sex workers use condoms with every client as evidenced by another thread on here.

"Professionalism" makes little difference when it comes to herpes Type 2 or HPV. Both viruses will spread whether a condom is present or not. I single out the "professionals" because they are a high risk population due to the significantly higher number of sexual partners they are exposed to.
I understand how STDs are spread. This thread was created to generate a field report and understand the community`s attitude towards STDs. It is alarming that most of the responses to this thread have been quick to downplay the threat of STDs. A juvenile ethos of invincibility, "it won`t happen to me", appears to dominate the community`s view towards the topic:

My girlfriend who has been an SP for upwards of 10 years had never contracted any disease from any clients ever

After all, there are also many hobbiests on this forum who have been playing the game for at least ten years, and from what I understand, %99.99 of them have not caught a thing.
All I am getting at is, with all the sex going on within this community, one would expect to hear about diseases more often. Out of the 190 matches found on the site worldsexguide.com, a google search for the term "herpes" returns no more than two results where someone admits to contracting the disease (check for yourself:
http://www.google.ca/search?q=herpes+site:worldsexguide.com&hl=en&as_qdr=all&start=0&sa=N).
While I`m tempted, the risk of catching hpv and herpes prevents me from engaging in sexual activities with a prostitute. For some reason, I am willing to accept the risks more with civilians. I can see myself doing it sometime in the future though; currently I`m under the age of 25 with a girlfriend who keeps me satisfied.
