Ron & Don/Sportsnet

Like his bottomless rack of colourful suits, Don Cherry has a lot of different takes.

There’s no doubt that for many, the Canadian hockey commentator is an iconic sports television personality. But now, some want him to just stick to that: sports.

Over the weekend, during his CBC Hockey Night in Canada segment, Coach’s Corner, Cherry told co-host Ron MacLean that the cold weather is contradicting global warming.

A day after groundhog Wiarton Willie predicted six more weeks of winter, Cherry’s comments received backlash on social media.

“He predicts six more weeks of cold weather,” Cherry said. “Now, I’d like to ask you with your left-wing, pinko friends: What about the warming trend?” he asked MacLean.

Although MacLean tried to change the subject, Cherry continued on his rant.

“I’m just asking, the cuckaloos always say ‘the warming trend’; we’re freezing to death,” he said.

“We’re not totally cuckaloos if you look at some of the things going on in our world,” MacLean responded.

Minister of Environment & Climate Change Catherine McKenna said that Canadians should “turn to scientists” for climate change, in a tweet about Cherry.

For hockey you can turn to Coach's Corner if you want, for climate change, Canadians turn to scientists.

But Don Cherry might want to think about all those kids who might not have outdoor rinks to play on some day. #CLIMATECHANGEISREAL https://twitter.com/wildfiremike/status/959986182502334464**…

Other Canadians had a few things to say about Cherry too.

Also, the Note at the bottom was great.

Princeton University physicist William Happer is not a fan of models used to predict future manmade global warming, and stars in a new educational video laying out the reasons he believes climate models are faulty.

“And I know they don’t work. They haven’t worked in the past. They don’t work now. And it’s hard to imagine when, if ever, they’ll work in the foreseeable future,” Happer said in a video produced by PragerU.

In the video, Happer argues that even supercomputers used to predict the weather and forecast future global warming aren’t strong enough to capture the complexity of Earth’s atmosphere, including cloud cover and natural ocean cycles.

“That’s why, over the last 30 years, one climate prediction after another — based on computer models — has been wrong,” Happer said in the video. “They’re wrong because even the most powerful computers can’t solve all the equations needed to accurately describe climate.”

What does your post have to do with a Princeton University physicist,... ???

Why did you even bother posting a non response ,... we all know what side of this argument you are on fuji.

Cherry may be a lovable idiot but the more dangerous idiot , Drumpf, recently claimed the polar ice caps are doing so well, "they're setting records!"

I wouldn't put too much into weather or climate forecasts.

Go to any weather link and check out the next day's estimate or 5 day forecast.

Even with such a short term calculation and super computers doing the math, it can still be wrong. And it's not like the computer programs are trying to calculate a fancy prediction a year from now. Just a boring 5 day outlook can still be wrong.

" MacLean tried to change the subject" .... McLean should of fed him more rope to hang himself with instead of trying to protect him

Is Don Cherry still promoting ColdFX? Marketplace revealed that the product is completely useless and a waste of money.

So? Cherry has an opinion on the subject. Since when one is not permitted to voice it in Canada? It's not like he can impose "green" taxes or has the power of the government to formulate policy. Catherine McKenna can , yet she felt so threatened, she jumped right into it. Which tells me that
Cherry, a Simpson grandpa clone, took a shot at the very heart of the orthodoxy on CBC, no less. Good for him. There's hardly anyone left with balls and a half of an independent brain on the Canadian TV.

People can have thier opinion. Others are free to disagree. Problem is he has no evidence and no credible background in this area - so his opinion means squat.

Hence, it's called an opinion. FYI, Al Gore has no background nor credible education either. Yet, his opinion on the subject tends to be of the gospel quality.

Correct - not a climate scientist and has no expertise in supercomputers. For the record he has no published papers on either topic.

William Happer is a Phd for sale. Pay his fee and he's your spokesman. He's been doing it for years.

Last year Happer was in the running for the President's science advisor ....... so he issued a bunch of releases/articles supporting all of Trump's positions and even a few conspiracy theories for good measure.

Just another Canada-man fake information post.
