Why is anyone still paying attention to this guy no matter what he says? His opinions on hockey are largely antiquated and ignorant. His opinions on anything else should be shrugged off as the ramblings of any other uninformed loudmouth.

Don Cherry used to live in my neighbourhood quite a few years back. You would occasionally see him driving around in his convertible Caddy (or was it a Lincoln?), he was quite a character. He did local charity work + supported Rose Cherry House and would always take a few minutes to chat or sign an autograph if you spotted him around town. Anyway, I think there is TV Don and normal Don. He always seemed pretty cool and relaxed the 2 times I saw him. He may have some extreme views, but it might just be the TV Don looking to stir some sh*t.

I attended a corporate motivational dinner where Ron MacLean spoke and he sat at our table for the dinner. The guy is funny, interesting and very smart. Ron implied to us that he and Don would often play off each other - not scripted - but Don would intentionally say something crazy and they would just go with it.

I'll always be a fan of both.

I am a big fan of Ron MacLean. Very smart, very funny in a dry way... and you can just tell by his facial expressions when Don goes on his rants that Ron has switched into "Don containment mode". Agree with him, encourage him, egg him on a bit, but keep him under control because it's live TV. I think he earns every penny he makes just for that alone.
