This is not going to change unless the culture and politics that created, sustained and maintains it does.

And the thing is, is that you know it.

Except that's not going to happen in Toronto and you and your buddies are idiots for not realizing that. Toronto is 80% post 1960's suburbs. You need a car to get around.

Toronto transit is a sad joke compared to European cities. How many subway stations does London have?..... I used to live there. London is a compact city with no burbs and 7 or 8 times the # of subway stations that Toronto has. Everybody uses transit in London. It's far more sensible than using cars.

It's taken Toronto a fucking decade to run a RT line along Eglinton. There's no RT line on Lawrence. Or York Mills. Or Finch east of Yonge. Or Steeles. It's impossible to get the transit coverage in Toronto that you get in London. Toronto is too spread out and not people-dense enough.

Your post are basically just rants about how much you hate cars. The cars aren't going away. They can't be replaced in the GTA. So every shabby little trick your buddies do to drive cars out of Toronto just means that the same number of cars drive along fewer and fewer streets. So you ding-dongs produce the sort of gridlock that has fucked Toronto over the last 5 years since you put your dumb ass plan into effect.

What I told you several threads ago. I don't drive downtown. I transit - or walk because Toronto transit is so fuck awful shitty - from Ossington and Dundas to the court complex downtown. People drive to get in and out of downtown because they need to get to Mississauga. Or Mimico. Or Whitby. Because that's where they fucking work!

Or argue for free transit, more funding and more maintenance so it works.

Well it sure seems like you're making light of the situation. No one wants to be homeless and getting out of that situation is no easy fix. It's not as simple as just getting a job or I'm sure lots of the homeless population would have done so because like I said, no one wants to be homeless.

And then tried to wake up, get yourself together, hoped on public transit, traveled across the city, tried to focus on the task at hand while you are wondering what percentage of your belongings will still be there when your shift is over? Please tell me you've done this already before saying that. Let me guess, you haven't done it but you're just imagining how easy it would be in your head and it seems really easy?

Sooner or later they need to stop being a lazy ass and get their shit together.

In Toronto? More like about 8 months. I bought an E-Bike a few months ago. Already am getting close to 2000km on it. I will amortization it's cost in about 10 months of usage vs public transit.

My commute time vs TTC I save an hour. GO train maybe 15 minutes. Car take about half the time.

Cost to commute. About 0.05$ per commute. And I charge at work(with permisson) so that's per day.

Is it perfect solution? Of course not. It's now a large part of my transport now. Including short errands and the like. And the #1 reason I went for it was a bike path route covering city streets, park paths and separate lanes that made it much safer.

E-bikes will be game changers with the scooters.

You've never ridden a bike in Toronto, have you?
Lots bike through the snow, but even if you don't you've usually got 11 months of biking weather here each year.

Hence the Go Train option. But I expect to get in 18-19 of my monthly commute days in on the bike for 8 months I don't bike in bad weather either and first sign of ice I'm done for the season unless a warm weather stretch appears.

I bought good all weather gear, over jacket and pants. Waterproof and wind breaker and oversized to accommodate layering.
