Do you think Canada and European countries are much more progressive about sex work than the USA?

Yes the yanks more moralistic than the Aussies. Everything stated by Dave is right. Lots of stings w cops buying then arresting the lady. Oz we got legal brothels (in most states) and legal sex work. As aussie comedian Jim Jeffries says about Americans going on about being "the land of the free": "in Holland, you can smoke weed whilst fucking a hooker in front of a cop. How dare Holland not be called the land of the free! Do you honestly think you are competing with holland?" lol.
Too many wowzer religious types in USA. But interwoven is racism too. These same religious types who pushed for prohibition were partly motivated by all these unwashed immigrants coming into the USA after WWI and these immigrants liked to drink.
But the USA is just more extreme in every direction. Thus there are entirely free love types and Taliban style Christians. And the loud win the day in the usa, not so much the smart.

Think of the significance Puritans have in US mythology/history. In some ways they've always held onto that. Look at the way an affair is a big issue for politicians but much of the rest of the world doesn't give a shit who their leaders sleep with.
Personally I find American's fascination with the First Lady strange. I don't even remember Harper's wife and if Chretien's hadn't passed recently I would have forgotten her as well

They even tried to use this "sexual misbehaviour" on Trump. What I really like about Trump is his ability to call everything by its name and ignore PC speech and behaviour. IMHO, there is only one honest and straightforward party that takes the best of Democrats and Republicans: the Libertarian. In Canada it is the People's party. Small government, low taxes, no handouts AND no intervention in personal life.

Agreed, I was having a conversations with a friends on Puritans and Calvinism. What's worst is that making sex work not an option turns a lot of guys into misogynists. I have seen many guys who online and spend tons of time hating on women since they can't get laid. Honestly, the USA creates these "Joker" types hence the popularity of the film, haha.
Toronto alone has more legal brothels than Nevada licensed by the municipal government all over the city. Toronto unlike many European cities has no need for a“ red light district”.
