Basically, with details omitted, here's her email

I have been doing a lot of thinking over the past while, the past long while… My life has been truly shattered by the world of escorting and manipulative men like you who prey on the poverty stricken. It must be nice to go on living your life as you do with your lovely wife, the kids, your home and business as well as your other involvement. Having me along on business trips for the only purpose to fuck me. These are things I could never do to the future father of my children; these are things I hope most people could never do…

It’s not fair that people like yourself succeed in life and people like me just fall apart, all used up and fade away…

I want a new life, a life men like yourself have denied me the chance of having … I want you to fund my 10 K run to freedom…

You have until February 14th 2014. I’m sure you will figure it out… I should hope for both are sakes you are able to figure it out…

I'd like to tell her that she won't have any freedom behind bars.

Maybe instead of responding via email, which is somewhat of an implied acknowledgement that can be used against you, maybe you should call the cops like Oagre suggested.

I think you are all a bunch of pussies if you consider that letter extortion. If the OP goes to the police, they will ask him, how often she has called to his house, and tell him to call them, if she shows up at his house or start to pester him with phone calls. get a little real here.

If you asked your daughter her opinion, I suspect she would disagree.

With respect Danmand, one doesn't need an imagination to conclude that this is clearly a blackmail attempt, although she could've written it in a state of mental distress (if not suffering from serious depression).

Maybe it is, but it can also be interpreted as a cry for help. It would appear that the women has been escorting the OP on several trips, and maybe does feel that she has not been adequately compensated for her extra-business services.

I cannot imagine that teh police will take this seriously, unless the OP is a well known person in power.

I would never extend credit to a client beyond one appointment, and I feel strongly most ladies would agree.

Contract payment however is indeed a circumstance that occurs. I'm paid 'on contract' by two clients. They pay me in advance a large sum and book as required until it's depleted. It's not unusual with many touring ladies and it's certainly not a privilege I would ever abuse.

Not all ladies that are paid a lump sum of 10k are up to no good. Just sayin'

The context of my statement was a disagreement with Danmand that this was a case of an irate escort over unpaid services, but there's nothing to suggest that here.

I didn't say that escorts can't charge thousands for trips or weekend getaways or overnights.

I hope I didn't offend you Jessica.

If we can believe the OP's initial post and the edited copy of her email, she never said that she was not underpaid.

She sounds like she's blaming him for her personal misfortune after the fact, and trying to make up for it with an implied threat (an implied threat is still extortion).

right, because "I give you until this date to pay me $10K or better figure out what's gonna happen" is a typical cry for help.
Where is fuji with his "cooky!" when we need him.

If there is a moral to the story, and I think there is, then it is to NOT accept extra curricular services as in taking SP's on trips. I have been burned badly several times doing that, and have been in a similar situation as the OP.

Not sure if a confession of that nature qualifies you as an expert in criminal law. Even the OP is less stupid, he has only been burned once.

Unlike you, I do not pretend to be an expert in criminal law.

He contacts the cops right away. They wire him and he sets up a meeting w her. Her attendance at the meeting confirms her participation in the extortion scam. The cops nab her at the meeting. She is held for a bail hearing where she is either detained or agrees to not contact anyone with the subject matter of the extortion threat. A gag order is placed on the case.

She is found guilty and sent to jail. End of story.
Exactly.

I have stories too brother but won't say. Frankly, I feel sorry for the ladies who get desperate. We can't save them even if we would like to. We can just be nice.

Ditto.

Further, I suspect that when Danmand is summonsed for Jury Duty and ends up in the criminal jury pool, that if he expresses some of the sentiments he has here, he is peremptorily challenged a lot under § 634 of the Criminal Code.

Forget the legal lecturing. Are you going to send me the $500?
