Hi all, my doctor told me today that I am prediabetic. Before the diagnosis I have been eating clean and working out. So, likely I've already made some headway to staving off diabetes.

I was wondering. Anyone on here went through this and they were able to reverse prediabetes or comtrol it so it doesn't become type 2 diabetes.

Thank you

See a dietitian. You may not be eating as clean as you think.

I was also hit with this. And yes you can stave it off. But it takes good knowledge of food. It's surprising what you can and can't eat( or eat alot less of)

Like Butler1000 said, a good diet is important but so is exercise. Not being overweight is super important.

What you eat might not be as important as WHEN your eat. Look up Dr Jason Fung and learn about intermittent fasting and extended fasting. You can likely reverse diabetes by maintaining a proper weight and doing intermittent fasting. The key to reversing diabetes is reversing insulin resistance - which is possible with fasting. Try eating 1 meal a day for 3 months and get your blood work done. You might also need to do extended fasting to get to your healthy weight.

You want to beat back diabetes - start running.

The above suggestions are all good but you need to max out your aerobic activity. If you have the time to do both muscle building and running , that would be best. You'll extend your life span and stay off insulin. Endocrinologists advise their patients to take a granola bar with them when they run, blood sugar drops too low.

Make an appointment with an endocrinologist, GP only know part of the story. He/she will recommend a blood test before the appointment.

I've heard about Dr Fung. I heard about this from Georges St. ************ who practises this.

I've tried it too but when yij work out hard I try to be careful not to have hypoglycemia (low blood sugar).

I will certainly try to book a session with a nutritionist/dietician.

Have any of you tried Dr. Bernstein? Is it worth it or a rip off?

Thank you all.

Bernstein is for radical weight loss. He is far from an authority on diabetes compared to an endocrinologist.

Forget Bernstein, instead watch every video by Fung and get his books. It will definitely help you.
