Well, I don't think it was a good story, but so what? The fact that I saw absolutely no redeeming values in that "story" is irrelevant to answering your second question.
It makes a big difference, especially on site where we are all relatively anonymous, that each and every one of us puts ourselves forward in an honest manner.
If you think I'm lying about some things, you'll easily believe I'm lying about others. And surely, if there is any value in the story it would be mitigated by the fact that he made it up, if indeed he did make it up. Here the guy is practically preaching taking the law into your own hands, based on his own smashing success - it surely makes a difference if in fact he got beaten to a pulp or if he just made it all up.
I won't take a stand on whether or not I believe him, but let me tell you about my own story.
I went into a restaurant alone, beat up 30 louts and took home their girlfriends for a wild night. The restaurant owner was so grateful, he told me I didn't need to pay. I've been living with the 30 girlfriends ever since. It's been great, but I'm feeling kind of worn out.
