If we choose DST year-round, it then effectively becomes the "standard" time.

So here in Ontario, if they effectively eliminate changing the clocks back an hour in the fall and forward an hour in the spring, does that mean that they would stick with DST year-round? Meaning it would get darker earlier in the morning and stay lighter later in the evening in the winter months?

I don't think you phrased that properly.

It would stay darker until later in the morning and stay lighter until later in the evening. And it would be year round.

No, not even close. lol

Thank you for clarifying.

Considering the fact that collisions involving pedestrians increases 30% after the end of daylight savings time, that statistic alone should be enough reason the put an end to it.

Trivia question. Where did the concept of daylight savings time originate?

The original proposal for DST adjusted the clock:

1)30 minutes
2)1 hour
3)2 hours
4)3 hours
Not sure where, but I think in general the idea is for there to be more daylight in our days. Near the equator it’s not really used, as there isn’t much fluctuation in the times of day the sun is up.

Here's the thing. It was already getting dark at 6PM, then we had to go and change the clock back one hour so now it's getting dark at 5PM.

Drove home yesterday in the dark all the way. Ever notice how many pedestrians wear black coats and dark clothes to make it harder for drivers to see them?

For the love of...

"Daylight Saving Time". Not "Savings".

Like "labour saving device".
