Greeting Torontonians...

I come from far west (Vancouver board) to ask the knowledgeable people of the East for information and advice.

I am a male who is considering getting a tongue piercing. I have been told that it can enhance the DATY experience significantly when the correct techniques are used.

Is this true? Can any of the females confirm this? Does anyone have advice on different techniques that can be used?

I personally have my doubts due to the area of the tongue that would be peirced as compared to the area of my tongue I typically use....

Anyhow, thanks for your advice.

I did not like the pierced tongue. I found it to be uncomfortable and distracting. That's just me though.

No thanks

I found that a lady with a pierced tongue down on my jewels was cold and very distracting from the actual pleasure of it all. But hey that's just my opinion.

Most people I know automatically assume that a guy with a pierced tounge is gay.

Something to think about before you go ahead with it.

tonguepiercings risky? ROFL!!!!

gods, what pile of propaganda have you been reading?

health canada has published health/safety guidelines for body art shops and they tend to pay attention too. [Autoclaves are your friend]

I'm rather risk averse and if I'd seen anything in the real world to indicate that tongue piercings were a major health hazard...

I would have still gotten my tongue pierced because I know how to calculate acceptable risk vs. benefits. [like superdaty muahaha]

grins. you can have my body art when you carve it out of my cold dead flesh. :>

body art makes me happy. [human bodies are extremely resiliant and tend to heal well if you let them.]

a greater risk would be snagging nipple rings on external things and having them torn out. [but that would be simple clumsiness on the part of the owner than anything else].

I couldn't care less what others thought of my sexuality because of my tongue stud.

Loves2learn - The idea is to be able to be good at DATY first. Adding the stud just gives it a little somethin', somethin'. Don't necessarily rely on it.

As for all of the comments on health risks, yada yada yada. That's up for you to decide. You're an adult, figure it out for yourself.

Me, I did it 'cause Mrs. Wooly didn't think I would. Yes, I also did it for the added DATY experience. But, I also found another benefit too. Shock value. I absolutely do not look like anyone who you would expect to have a tongue peircing. When people see that you do, the looks on their face is priceless.

BTW, I've also seen sp's with tongue studs too. And I agree it also adds to the bj experience.

I say go for it. I don't think you'll be sorry.

body art makes me happy for non-obvious reasons.

To address Bunzmeisters last post:
---------------------------------------------

everyone has different experiences in life and hence different reasons for doing things. sometimes it can be almost spiritual in nature.

I spent ten months having radical reconstructive dental and jaw surgery to fix long term car accident damage. I know more about what the inside of a human mouth and its inherent risks are than the average human would.

$25k worth of titanium ceramic composite teeth is something to think about when having someone ram a metal spike thru ones tongue. [hence the suggestion that a tongue piercing should always be fitted properly] so as not to chip teeth.

I spent 2 months negotiating with my dental surgeon on the subject as he was initially completely opposed to the idea.

he has now changed his position based on how things turned out.

one should be methodical about things and it pays to do threat-risk-assessments as part of basic planning. I did make it a point to ask an expert in the use of tongue piercings wether or not she thought it would be a good idea. I had heard that it helps if you already know what you're doing [datywise] then a tongue piercing is a good enhancement. [I remember her sitting there, glowing and nodding with a big happy grin from unpierced daty]

sorry if I went off on you. but most of the time, people talking about piercings being dangerous and unhealthy, seem to want the world to look like "leave it to beaver" and want to suppress individual expression.

for me, I'm having meaningful ink over body parts that were heavily damaged. [I'm walking scar collection with lots of metal in my body reinforcing broken/crushed bones etc]

the fact that I can walk under my own power is a good start as far as I'm concerned and the whole exercise to some degree is part of a long term psychological healing process.

I had a choice about the piercings, I didnt have a choice about the metal plate in my skull. so after a fashion, I have been reasserting psychological control over my body image.

besides, its really cool seeing the reactions of a friendly female when I go down on her with a 6ga well balanced tonguestud. [lots of happy noises and writhing around in bliss]

I havent felt this good overall or had this much fun since the 1980s. [when the world was "normal"] :) off to have more FUN!!!!

Cheers [Go for it L2L, just dont forget proper aftercare guidance from your piercer. Biotene and warm salt water]

Risk is relative to everything else you don't think about.

Thats a really good line. May I use it? it is insightful in its nature. :)

and yes, I've seen a failure state from someone biting there tongue and not taking proper care of it.

tongue piercing is really stupid imo
its way up there with tongue forking or putting a bolt through your member. If you want to do daty better then do some tongue exercises etc
other people do it to show their identity or some crap like that but there has surely got to be better ways then this then putting metal through their body....geesh

I had my tongue pierced for quite some time. Some girls liked it and some didn't as far as the oral goes...Lil'Miss didn't care for it all that much. I took the piercing out because I kept clicking it on my teeth and I was afraid that I would chip a tooth. I'm 27 years old and I've never had a single cavity or any sort of problem with my teeth, so I thought it would be stupid to cause damage myself. I did like having it, though. And like wooly110, I loved the look on people's faces as I do not look like the type of person who would have such a piercing.

I guess it depends on what you tatoo, your tongue is very sensitive.... my guess is it would be like tatooing the palm of your hand.. though thats only a guess

pain factor: short, not terribly painful. swells for a few days as it heals.

nipple piercings were more painful.

tattooing for me isnt painful, but the endorphins from it are wonderful. :)

everyones physiological reactions are different.

the tongue piercing was interesting from a pain standpoint. It was like, for one split second, the most incredibly intense pain I think I've ever felt, but it's over so fast the pain itself doesn't seem real, since it's already over by the time you feel it. It's hard to explain, and I can't say it wasn't enjoyable, but I'm twisted.

Oh, and eating was kind of a bitch for a couple days after...hope you like soup.

teeth problems are avoided by having the initial tongue bar [over long to cope with initial phase swelling] removed and replaced with a "service" bar that is shorter and properly fitted so it does not flop over or get tangled in teeth.

in my experience it has not affected how I speak or eat.

first three weeks are most crucial for maintenance of after care.

I'm happy with the results. risk can be managed and the benefits thus far greatly out weigh the risks.

YMMV

I couldn't agree more.

I actually did mine on a whim. I was just walking by, saw the sign and got it done. I wasn't even expecting or thinking about the possibility of pain 'till the needle went through my tongue. It's painful, but quick. ( and yeah, our good ol' friends, the endorphins, kick in )

I'd say the pain in healing is more painful than getting a tattoo, just due to length of recovery time. A cartilage ( industrial ) piercing is more painful, in my experience. I guess mine was slow to heal, partly because I smoke. It took a week before I could eat anything solid without pain. Ya get good at juggling small pieces of food to the back of your throat.

My DATY skills are abysmal to begin with and getting it done had no real DATY factor. Most of these decisions are just a personal thing. So, I cant really comment as to whether it enhances DATY, but I still have to waken them up after. I'll just have to practise harder ( any volunteers ? )

Some girls have commented it feels good on da nipples though. Haven't given any BJ's yet, so cant really comment there either.

I tend to mumble anyway, so it's "hard to say" if it effects the way you talk. In all seriousness, at first you think it may, but I don't think it does. You may find yourself concentrating on and almost exaggerating your intonation for a while.

Most of the time, I forget it's even there and no one else knows, except when it comes to intimate interaction. For anyone thinking abt it ( JML, loves2learn ) I'd say get it done and then it's out of your system. I really can't think of anything regrettable abt it and the percentage of people who run into medical complications is extremely minimal.

Hmmm .... lots of thoughts to ponder.

So, from what I am hearing... if am truely bad at DATY, this isn't going to help me... if I am good at DATY then it probably won't help me.

If I do it, some people might think I'm gay, but the reality is as long as they don't hit on me, what do I care (and even if they do, I'm a polite guy)....

So... if I do it... do it for me, and only me.

Sounds very reasonable.

Pink Floyd & Siouxsie on Nitrous for ten months was amusing.

Bunz:

no worries, its all good. the accident happened a long time ago and was a side effect of an over exhausted truck driver falling asleep at the wheel on I95.

the world is a good and happy place now. good things take time and sometimes it takes effort.

L2L: EXACTLY. do it for yourself. not for anyone else, do it for YOU. :)

[do it for the right reasons so that you dont wince in 50 years when your grandkids ask about the metallica tattoo or whatever]

Pain wasn't an issue. Didn't hurt for me. High pain tolerance. IMO it hurts more when you bite your tongue than getting it pierced. There wasn't really any swelling either. If it wasn't for the fact that the ball unscrewed from the bar, Mrs. Wooly wouldn't have found out so quickly that I got it done. I was talking fine for the most part. Although I did have to learn to say my "s" again.

Eating was another issue. I drank a lot of instant breakfasts for a few days. I didn't want to take any chances. I followed exactly what they told me to do for hygene. Haven't had a problem.

Although, when I do start talking fast, I do get a lisp. Still haven't mastered saying my "s" completely.
