technical note: jewelry threading.

internally threaded piercing jewelry [bars etc] tend to work much more smoothly and securely than the conventional threaded screw format commonly used. Ask your piercer about it.

[internally threaded parts are optimal for tongue piercings as you work your way up the gauge chart. starting typically with a 14ga. initial piercing.] the guages increase in diameter along a geometric curve and get progressively larger relative to previous upgrade.

hence, internally threaded to avoid complications.

oh, and tighten them once in a while, its annoying to accidentally swallow your own tongue piercing because one of the beads worked itsself loose.

Someone was talking about piercing pain vs. tattoo pain. Just wanted to say that the two aren't comparible at all. While I've never had my tongue pierced, I have two tats and have gotten my nipples pierced. The tats hurt, but the piercing was the craziest, most horribly painful rush I've ever felt. Much more fun than getting ink done.
