I'd love to get a dashcam for the car but knowing myself, its a hassle to delete every time and i am sure i will forget one day and it'll bite me in the ass.

For thoses with dashcams, how do u do it?

Just install the smallest capacity Memory card. Set to High Definition and 3 min recordings and to overwrite first file when card is full.

With a 4 GB card you have about 30 minutes of recordings until they start getting over-written.

People seem to want to put in the largest capacity card available. But not only is there no reason to record the last 10 hours of driving, it could bote you in the ass.

You really only want to have the last 5 minutes if you are in an accident. And if you are at fault, you might want to eat the chip lest it be confiscated by the police as evidence.

How will a dashcam bust your hobbying? Out cruising for streetmeat? Plan on doing the deed on the hood?

If his wife has the time to watch hours of mostly boring video to find out where he went, and if she can recognise the locations, she really needs to get a hobby.
My thoughts exactly. Unless you're pulling up to a blinking neon sign saying that you're at a massage parlor, then you can usually leave the dash cam alone. If the wife really does want to go through the trouble of looking through dash cam footage, then she likely has a private eye following him around too.

I just unplug power/turn it off while out. It's not that difficult to wipe once in a while either, no one is ever going to go through hours of your footage

Which model is generally regarded as a good buy?
I have a Garmin. Bought it for my truck when I was still working and put it in my car when I retired. I leave it plugged in all the time. When I start my car it turns on and shuts off when I shut car off unless I cancel the shutdown. I leave it on when I go shopping.

Simple. Leave it switched off until 5 minutes before some other driver hits you. But only if it's his fault.
