Anyone stroll through the Dark Web. Have been reading up on all this stuff as of late and was wondering what your experience is related to that. I'm trying to find old/current certification exams that I can't find just searching through the regular web. I know its lame but thought I'd ask.

I've been interested in browsing it just to find things that are interesting. Not weird porn or drugs etc, just off-the-beaten-path kind of things. Don't know where to start.

Haven't hit it recently but used to peruse the Dark and Deep Web years ago just to check it out. It's different, no limits. Very much larger than the regular www we all use. You have to learn how to navigate through it. Google will help you with that. Then you need TOR browser to get started. I never used Windows when using and searching it.

Never been there myself but heard you can actually see the unedited and raw war footage (horrific and gruesome) and not the sanitized version you see on the 6PM news on mainstream TV.

Before you jump aboard. You should research and learn how to how to protect your privacy. For the most part its unregulated, and if you come across something illegal like child porn even if its unintentional you can get into big doo doo so you don't want to be identifiable in the slightest.

Totally agree, I just want the certification exams, its like High School all over again, trying to find out who had the copy of the exams . Good simple times.

Yes learn before you stroll threw the dark web. I do it on a clean laptop away from home on public wifi. And never have your phone on you .... just to start ... look at some YouTube videos to get familiar

Do you have any resources (book,videos or fourms) you've used to learn about this anonymity?
Please do share. I've heard of Tails, but how do you mask hardware identifiers like serial numbers and such?
Or just avoid any sort of liability. Everything changes so quickly that things often are never fully secure, but often the awareness of potential vulnerabilities can aid in protection.
Like I've even heard about TOR not being secure and Intelligent Agency's (CIA/FBI) have backdoors, but to what extent I have no idea.

I don’t go on anymore and things change almost daily. You are never safe, it’s possible to cloak yourself but I’ve seen 13 year olds blow me out of the water with what they knew and how to exploit you. It’s crazy and it’s not harmless.

Just a quick note. I just finished watching mr robot on Netflix and most of that stuff was real or very possible and that series is old now. My honest suggestion is just don’t play with that stuff.

But that’s just my opinion. It’s very interesting, no doubt but it’s not harmless

OpenBSD is another security focused OS. Never heard of QubesOS though, I'll have to check it out.

People want to access it and will, explaining how to do it safely would be ideal.

I think the whole allure of the dark web is more interesting than the dark web itself. I don't have too much experience, but it seems to be 99% drugs. No use to me.

I don't about the content. It's the hackers and cops that would be worrisome.
