No, the vaccine is quite effective in preventing ICU and death.
It is extremely unlikely that we need another lockdowns.
But we will get outbreaks from time to time to thanks to those who refuse to get vaccinated.
Fact. The whole point of the vaccines at this stage is to exponentially lessen transmission, reduce severity, and keep normalcy. If the case loads stay within reason, the ICU's remain low then they can go with "Stay home if you are sick" to those who get it. And the rest of us can stay open.
It won't run rampant in the homes. Or in work places.
My only concern is the schools. They need a kids shot. At least the high schools kids will be ok.
Its truly unfortunate when someone falls for conspiracy theories on Covid. They just end up so confused, and angry. Especially when they stop making sense and realize it. And then double down out of desperation.

Well, the country I've been watching- Israel, Delta is the main variant by far and easier transmissible than the original, but, so far less deadly. However, it does still kill- simply because the top efficacy of the vaccines doesn't go beyond 90%- or so the Israeli scientists think right now. That is not set in stone because the virus continues to mutate and with the mass vaccination, it is likely that it will mutate beyond the capabilities of the drug.

It almost certainly will. And like flu that will mean the occasional new variant of concern. Butler's weird authoritarian fetish isn't likely to become reality. But that isn't likely to happen if things just get better in Canada and are still raging in much of the world. It will have to drop down to flu-like levels of endemic.

But really, he is being rational. As long as the rest of the country gets vaccinated enough to drive the rates down, he should be well protected even if he didn't get the vaccine himself.
It's the classic free rider problem, and kind of inevitable. You will notice that unlike Canada Man and Tee Jay and sp Free, he isn't attacking the vaccines overall very much and has even encouraged others to get it.
He is just making the rational calculation that his personal odds are better if everyone else does it and he free rides. You can argue his estimates of the risk are wrong, but the actual strategy is perfectly sound.

- Immunization and community health
- Immunization law in Ontario
At the end of the session, you’ll receive a Vaccine Education Certificate signed and dated by your public health unit.
- Complete a Statement of Conscience or Religious Belief form and get it is signed by a commissioner for taking affidavits in Ontario.
- Make copies of your certificate and your signed Statement of Conscience or Religious Belief form and submit the originals to your local public health unit (they will tell you how). It is important that you keep your copy because the ministry and local public health units do not keep records of your exemption documents.
Ya what you have to actually go through to get an exemption is truly not worth it to most people who truly don’t care about not getting their gets vaxxed and are just being lazy. They just get the vaccine done once they find out the true way to get exempt
