It wasn't the curse that got the red sox - it was the stupidity of Grady Little.

Pedro pitched a great game for 7 innings. Why put him back in the 8th when he was hit hard at the end of the 7th especially when your bull pen has a 1.17 ERA throughtout the series and the 2 pitchers warming up, Timlin and Embree both have ERA's of zero for the series.

All Grady had to do was send Timlin in as the set up man and then bring in the closer - game over.

And the fact that in the 8th inning, Pedro was hit hard 3 times straight with runners on 3rd and 2nd - and Grady still lets Pedro pitch is ridiculous

I mean we all thought Pedro's night was done at the end of the 7th after we saw him hug Nomar in the dugout

The Cubs and the Red Sox are both out because of managerial errors. Oh, and Steve Bartman.

GO YANKEES!!!! WOOHOO!!!!

There are very few teams that I truly hate, but the Red Sox are on of them. Although in this case I am a diehard lifetime Yankees fan, if it were any other opponent I would want them to win, simply so that the Sox would lose.

In this latest example of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, Grady "i cant believe someone actually gave me a major leage managers job" Little left Pedro in far past his limit of 90-100 pitches. Wrong Hole is absolutely correct in his analysis.

I feel sorry for Cubs fans, but in the case of the Red Sox, I could not be more pleased with such a heartbreaking down-to-the-wire loss, especially since they have no one to blame but their own stupidity.

GO YANKEES!!!!

Grady Little? I liked him better when he was called Forrest Gump.

Nothing more satisfying than watching those two PUNKS(!) Manny Ramirez and Pedro Martinez skulk back to their locker room with their tails between their legs. Those classless bums don't deserve to play in the World Series.

Justice has been served.

It was one of the best games I've seen in a while. Was also shaking my head at Little leaving Pedro in.
I imagine Wells wasnt feeling too proud of himself either.

Now the Yankees HAVE to win the Series. Any bets as to how many games?

Sam.... wanna make a bet? ;-)

I say Yankees in 6 games. Thanks to the Rangers' Hank Blalock hitting the game winning home run in the All-Star game, the AL has home field advantage in the series.

The only problem might be NY setting up its rotation since they used Clemens, Mussina and Wells last night (albeit sparingly for each of them).

Pettite in game 1, Mussina in 2, Clemens in 3, Wells in 4.

Wells in the first game. It's already been announced. Pettitte needs at least one more day and Mussina threw 3 last night while Wells threw only one.

Clements in game 4.

I don't really believe in magic and stuff like that but the Cubs and Red Sox make me wonder if curses really exist. I heard so much talk about a possible Cubs and Sox world series and in the end neither team made it!

I hope Florida beats the Yanks some how!

how can you not hate the Yankees? Do you not get sick of them winning all the time? They always buy whatever pieces they're missing and it was refreshing when Arizona beat them in 2001, and when Anaheim ripped them last year...before I get ripped for my Yankee bashing, they probably have one of the best minor league systems out there...I mean Rivera, Posada, Soriano, Jeter, Williams, Pettite....but it irks me that buy all the other pieces to their puzzle every year, the Yankees are the one team I truly do hate, and yes the Red Sox have bought more of their team than the Yankees but I just hate Yankees so much.....

as for the World Series, I dont care to watch it but I can see the Marlins winning....they have confidence, they arent as emotinally drained, they are young and exuberant and that franchise has never lost a post season series. They have speed at the top, and solid hitting through the lineup. There weakness however which may be exposed is the starting pitching...other than Beckett, the starters have been iffy, Dontrelle's been getting rocked and Penny and Redman arent exactly household names.

My prediction, if Florida gets good starts, they will win it!

Pesky holds the ball as the Yankees score the winning run in ‘48
If I remember correctly, the infamous ball holding incident involving Peskey took place during the '46 World Series against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Unless there were two ball holding incidents...
