True... yet even $50.00 is too much if the charges are not yours, IMO.bigpackage said:Legally the most a credit card can stiff you with is a max of $50 for all unathorized use.
They should have no problem because they will reverse the charges to the retailer that took the card.
The banks never loose on this stuff.
I got ripped off twice, but the card companies never chagered be anything. Only agravation filling out forms.drlove said:True... yet even $50.00 is too much if the charges are not yours, IMO.
With Visa, there is a "0 liability" clause; however, I checked the cardholder agreement on my platinum Mastercard and found out I would be liable the aforementioned $50.00 in case of fraudulent use... doesn't seem fair.
Chances are, it was probably VISA. For some reason, they seem more accomodating. I remember a few years ago, my friend's wife had her purse stolen with her Mastercard. The theives used it to buy gas and a few other things.bigpackage said:I got ripped off twice, but the card companies never chagered be anything. Only agravation filling out forms.
Same thing happened to me, apparently they have some elaborate computer system that catches identity thieves almost immediately.keeferz said:I had fraudulent charges on my Mastercard last summer. The card wasn't stolen, so not sure how they got the number, possibly an online purchase or a card slip. At any rate, Mastercard phoned me up, and asked about a number of charges that had gone through that I didn't know about. When I told them I hadn't made the charges, they reversed all of them.
Visa has called me on two occasions to tell me that they cancelled my card and new ones were on the way. Both times they suspected fradulent use. Once was because I used the card in a SC and that did not fit my profile! LOLkeeferz said:I had fraudulent charges on my Mastercard last summer. Personally, I find it abhorrent and would like to see it removed . . .
