Between a rock and a hard place
My wife had her purse stolen with all her credit cards but I didn't report it to the police. The thief spends less than she does.

Make sure you report it and get a police report

Just to be safe, because most credit card companies like it, report the lost cards to the police.

When my wallet was stolen a couple of years ago, the credit card companies told me to file a police report (which I had already done). Very quickly, the thief had used both of my cards ; one company gave me no problems while the other one did. Consequently, I cancelled the latter card.

Legally the most a credit card can stiff you with is a max of $50 for all unathorized use.

They should have no problem because they will reverse the charges to the retailer that took the card.

The banks never loose on this stuff.

True... yet even $50.00 is too much if the charges are not yours, IMO.
With Visa, there is a "0 liability" clause; however, I checked the cardholder agreement on my platinum Mastercard and found out I would be liable the aforementioned $50.00 in case of fraudulent use... doesn't seem fair.

Register your cards

I believe most financial company provide this service for a small monthly fee. You give them ALL of your credit/debit card numbers & if you happen to lose one or all of them, simply call the number provided & they will place the stolen call on your behalf. Your credit cards will be replaced & your debit cards will be cancelled. You will then have to go to your home branch & have a new one issued.

Chances are, it was probably VISA. For some reason, they seem more accomodating. I remember a few years ago, my friend's wife had her purse stolen with her Mastercard. The theives used it to buy gas and a few other things.

She reported it stolen immediately, but still had to pay the first $50.00 of the charges out of her own pocket.

I had fraudulent charges on my Mastercard last summer. The card wasn't stolen, so not sure how they got the number, possibly an online purchase or a card slip. At any rate, Mastercard phoned me up, and asked about a number of charges that had gone through that I didn't know about. When I told them I hadn't made the charges, they reversed all of them.

Same thing happened to me, apparently they have some elaborate computer system that catches identity thieves almost immediately.

wow

makes you wonder why we get cards lol
My brother rent a car in Zurich, later that day he try to pay for dinner and denied the fellow at the rental place had spent 4000$ on drug equiptment and lab stuff. My (very straight) brother almost got arrested. but all reversed. Like I said I found them so I disposed of them. I feel ok about it now. I do not use a card alot so it's ok as I would know what I charged to it.
THANKS GUYS
I owe ya (evil grin)

Visa has called me on two occasions to tell me that they cancelled my card and new ones were on the way. Both times they suspected fradulent use. Once was because I used the card in a SC and that did not fit my profile! LOL
How little they know!

I'm glad you like it, Heidi.

Not everyone thinks the same though.
Jelloman wants to have me arrested.

I'll tell you what's scary is the fact that anyone on this planet would find that video of your's (with the granny and the baby) to be remotely humorous . . .

Personally, I find it abhorrent and would like to see it removed . . .
