I was listening to some of the music I have that I haven't heard in a while and SRV's version of "Little Wing" caught my ear. IMHO one of the best covers, not to mention some of the best guitar playing you will ever hear.

SRV cover of 'Little Wing' is excellent(check out YouTube). His cover of 'Voodoo Chile(Slight Return)' is also good. To be honest, I was never a fan of GnR, but the cover album is excellent(Dead Boys, UK Subs, Iggy, what more can you ask for?). Also a big fan of "Wish I Was A Carpenter" Album. Too drunk to really comment anymore, but you no how it is, eh?

If you're a SRV fan, check out his Live At The El Mocambo video. It's early at his best and features a great version of Voodoo Child.

One of the great covers of a song is Hendrix's "All Along the Watchtower". Not a big fan of Dylan's original but I love Hendrix's version.

Another cover I like is The Bangles' "Hazy Shade of Winter". I like Simon and Garfunkel's original a lot and The Bangles did a good job in their cover.

I knew that Nikoli Tesla was a serb genious, but i never knew that he covered "five man electrical band" songs. Amazing. My favorite cover is Massive Attacks live version of "Smoke on the water".

One of my favourites is Metallica's cover of Bob Seger's Turn the Page. Dixie Chicks' Landslide (Fleetwood Mac) is a great one too.

Marilyn Manson also did a couple of good ones of "I Put a Spell on You" by CCR and "Sweet Dreams" by the Eurythmics.

How about Japans version of "all tomorrows parties". That song still gives me the tingles.

" i Put A Spell On You" was originally done i the 50,s by a guy named Screaming Jay Hawkins...CCR,s version is quite good..i shudder to hear what MM ,s version sounds like

SRV also did an amazing version of Stevie Wonder's "Superstitous". Not that that I didn't like his original stuff, but he always sounded better playing covers.

Tori Amos had an album of covers five years ago that featured great versions of "Time" (Tom Waits), "Rattlesnakes" (Lloyd Cole), "New Age" (Velvet Underground) as well as brilliantly haunting versions of Eminem's "Bonnie and Clyde" and 10cc's "Not In Love".
