I'm a huge horror fan and collector of horror movies (mainly VHS).
When this came out it shocked audiences and is still known to be the most disturbing movie in existence, but I've seen worse.
The director has said this is a social commentary about Serbia and his interviews are interesting.
Salo aka 120 Days of Sodom, a couple of movies from the Japanese Guinea Pig series and Cannibal Ferox.
I also found the original Martyrs film to be far more mentally and visually disturbing than A Serbian Film.
The American remake is garbage though.
Cannibal Ferox is unwatchable for me because of the animal cruelty. The animal deaths and torture are real and exploitative for the sake of the film.
I wouldn't recommend Salo to anyone. It's seriously fucked up and got Director Pier Pasolini murdered.
i agree. That is a movie I could not tolerate to watch or would not recommend to anyone either. I'd rather watch Pasolini's According to the Gospel of Matthew
