Just a thought. . . . .
Who actually has a supply of dental dams or latex gloves just lying around???? (Well, okay, I know of a very few SP's, but they are very few and far between!)
For safer DATY, plain old Saran wrap (ie, plastic wrap in your kitchen cupboard) is a safe and effective barrier, and much more likely to be available than dental dams. See Eye magazine's Love Bites column last week. I would think this might also apply to rimming. Also, some SP's split a condom up one side and open it up like a dental dam. . . . .
And let's also remember Sue Johanson's advice (as in "Sunday Night Sex Show") re: fingers in various bodily orfices: Hey! Just slip a condom over your fingers and use lots of lube. . . . No, this isn't an excuse for dirty hands or ragged fingernails, but it might make "digits" an option if they have not previously been allowed.
Whether or not an individual chooses to use these methods is a personal decision. Yes, I agree that they can detract from the "mood" during an intimate encounter.
This isn't an endorsement for said safe-sex practices, but rather a bunch of options that should be discussed! Oh, and here are a couple of options for safe-sex info:
The Hassle Free clinic (on church street in toronto)
The Bay centre for Birth Control (on Bay st near college)
(Both of these are for men and women, often with separate clinic days for each gender. Anonymous STD testing, advice, counselling, etc. The Hassle Free Clinic doesn't require a health card either!)
For SP's ONLY: Maggie's Place (I think it's near Gerrard/Parliament) for info, free condoms, coffee and a chat, etc
Drop-in hours used to be Mon-Wed in the afternoon, but it might have changed. And isn't there a "Shady Lady" radio program too, just for SP's?
Oh, and BBFS? It's a stupid idea, period. Gee, I thought that's what Rohypnol was for!
