Thanks gang, I got my screen back the hard way. Pressed f10, system recovery...

I'll tell ya my confidence in computers has been shaken, this is the second difficult recovery I've gone thru in a month.

I would caution everybody when surfing search engines, they are a hotbed for viruses.

if your shut down does not work from software
hold your power button for 5 maybe 10 seconds and it will shut it down.
