Can you have two hard drives, a floppy drive, a CD-ROM, and a DVD writer? Or is that too much?

Yes, you can. On one of my computer, I have 2 HD, 1 FD, CD writer and a DVD writer. Occasionally, I will also hook up my external HD via USB2. This is an older system with P4 and 1GB of RAM.

Functionally, it really depends on your motherboard, CPU and the RAM on your system. If any of the above cannot handle the demands of your hardware, the system will slow to a crawl.

i'd be careful, all that stuff might tax your powersupply. If you throw in a high end video card your system will be very unstable. I'd advise upgrading ur powersupply before adding anything else

more than one fan will be needed. Most probably one on the videocard, one for the harddrive and one in the case.
You'll need a friggin advanced cooling system in there... nitrogen and multiple fans and everything! Ya gotta make it a fridge and let's not forget to pimp it up with neon lights.

yeah, fans are definitely called for...and heck, you can pick them up at Canada Computer for about 8 bucks a piece and they have neon too.

If you're getting into cooling don't forget to put fans on the drives too, hot drives slow down.

DOn't forget you can get fans for your northbridge too. I only paid $4.00 bucks for mine....

If you're into modding, something easy and cheap to do to clean up your case is to buy some corrugated translucent dishwasher hose from Home Desparate, slit it down the middle and slip it over all those power leads. If you're adventurous you can also use a fine exacto knife to slit your IDE cables and then shrink wrap em. This turns them into a round cable as opposed to a wide flat one....

Yeah, get another power supply, something around 600 watts and make sure you spend some dough on it. Make sure that it has short circuit protection etc. I bought a cheapy one and (due to an error on my part when installing a mobo) I shorted out the mobo and fried the processor. I tell you I was pissed as it was a prescott 3.0 hyperthreading processor and a replacement cost me some major coin.....

lol dude get with the program! Most of the new high end power supplys have all the wires bundled and clad with braided stainless; and IDE cables have been avaiable pre-wrapped for a few years now.
