I lost some weight and started thinking about getting some cologne but I have no idea what I should look for. Does anyone have some suggestions? :) I don't need a super expensive one - just something that smells nice. Thanks!

I don't know what you define as expensive.

Perry Ellis is a good brand.

Hugo Boss/Selection is another good one.

Polo is another a good one to try.

I know it can be a little overwhelming with everything out there but I think you need to go to a store and try sample strips because what smells great on you does not smell great on someone else.

It's kind of hard to come by these days, but Alfred Sung Hei smells great and is like $25.

Also a fan of Kenneth Cole Reaction, and Victoria's Secret for him (or something like that)

and women love it!

Btw OP...wouldn't you have needed the cologne more when you were heavier?
I wasn't that heavy, just like borderline between average and overweight on the BMI chart. I shower twice (almost) every day. Looks like I'll be getting L'Homme... Unless someone else has a better suggestion.

I came to work a couple of years ago wearing a "cool" new cologne that the women suggested came from the Janitor In A Drum company. How rude of them. They marched me off at lunch time and chose L'Homme for me. Why they even needed my participation is beyond me as I was not consulted about the choice. They chose not to pay for it.

The same cologne can smell completely different on one person to the next. When I was looking for a new cologne I'd pass by Shopper's and spray one brand on before heading out with friends. After wearing it for several hours I'd ask several girls to smell what I was wearing and tell me what they thought. I'd repeat this process the next time I went out. After trying 10 different kinds I purchased a bottle based on the feedback from the girls.

The interesting thing was several of the girls were shocked when they founds out I was wearing one particular brand. They said their husbands/boyfriends use the same kind but it smelled completely different on me, as in way better.

My mother and wife have been wearing the same perfume for years. It smells amazing on my wife but at the same time is almost unrecognizable on my mom, not bad just completely different. It was actually my wife who pointed that out after noticing the bottle one day, I had no idea it was the same brand.

So my suggestion is to try L'Homme on for an evening or two and see what others think before you buy it.

Cerrutti 1893 (or something like that - have used this for years - drives women crazy).

Can't remember some of the other ones I have that are awesome.

Have a new one by Calvin Klein. It's a rectangular, dark bottle. It has a woody fragrance and is very nice.

There are several good ones by Hugo Boss and Ralph Lauren.

I would say, the best thing to do, is go to a department store or fragrance boutique store like Enchante, and sample a few of them for the one you like (or that the sexy saleslady likes).

go for anything by bvlgari, I hear they have great reviews. I prefer Nautica Voyage however, smells like ocean mist and is very light.

Thanks! I would never have thought that they would smell different on me!

Not superexpensive would be Malizia or Cuba. Otherwise would be Eau Giorgio Armani or CD Farheneit

There are several "flavors" of cologne. Some are "woodsy", some are "fresh", others citrusy. I personally prefer something that smell fresh, almost like fresh soap. A good one I use is Bvlgari blv pour homme.

Aqua di gio by armani is OK too.

Armani Code

It's very warm/sultry but somehow light and fresh at the same time. And ladies seem to love it!
