I have fond memories of the CNE...watching jets, playing the games, trying the foods and Display of military stuff...This years attendance was reported not so good.... looks like they need some serious changes... of course the weather and the traffic didn't help.

We used to go all the time.

Last year we decided we did not need to scratch that itch every year any more.
Pricey and not as much as interested us any more. And some parts are looking pretty tired.

So we are not attending this year despite of any weather factors.

Last time I was there was 1989 for a massive new wave/alternative concert:

IIRC the following bands were there that I can remember:

Love and Rockets
Gene Loves Jezebel
The Cure
The Smiths
New Order
Echo and the Bunny men
Depeche Mode
Siouxie and the Banshees
The Pixies

Got in for free, friend worked security at the concert.

It was awesome!!!!

Was there on Monday. Saw the ice skating and acrobatics show and some buskers. Took the heritage walking tour and ghost walk and ate too much. One highlight was the Canadian Armed Forces display. Noticed there are some gorgeous female soldiers. I also was dog tired at the end of the day.

I remember when I just came to Canada, I thought it was terrific. The air show, but also the food building where you could sample all the free things.

Only to try new foods and see different vendors there. General admission tickets are $13 after 5pm from Monday through Thursday, so I might go.

I saw Heart there. I think John Cougar opened for them. Years later, I saw David Bowie. It was horrible. I think it was called it called the Glass Spider tour. I don't remember him playing even one of his hits. I remember being at the Ex in 1980 and it happened that the Cars were playing. I didn't think too much about the Cars at the time. I believe my friend was at the jewelley stand looking for crosses to mimic Black Sabbath members. It sounded good listening outside and I remember a bunch of guys saying they were going to bust in somehow.
Anyways, never got inside but I wish I did because I really like their first two albums. Don't really like their 1980s music though except for maybe Touch and Go.

In the news they said the biggest thing is the food. I remember having a buffalo hamburger (tastes like beef) and those little donuts made on the spot.

I've seen Neil Young, Sprinsteen a few times, The Clash, Stevie Wonder, The Band/Linda Ronstadt, ELO, Beach Boys, Festival Express...

Those are the ones, I forgot the name. Yeah they're not healthy. But maybe a one time shot and it was cool watching stream through the oil..

I’ve gone to CNE every year for the last five years and I went today and I had a great time. We have a little bit of a thing where we try each years brand new ice cream invention. This year it was avocado inside a coconut ice cream… Last year it was ketchup and mustard ice cream lol I love it all. I couldn’t find the deep fried butter chicken lasagna. I wanted to try that. The rides could be much better though. I remember when I was a kid, there were like three or four roller coasters. Now the only one I see is the Mouse Trap.

For the longest time the Flyer was their signature coaster. It paled in comparison to the Comet at Crystal Beach.

I’ve never been to Crystal Beach. I have heard about it. I went to Darien Lake for a concert a couple of weeks ago and it looked like it had some nice rides there.

I’m a fan of Coney Island in Brooklyn. The Cyclone is awesome. I love Coney Island. Nathans hotdogs and oysters every direction you look.
