Here's where your analysis breaks down. He's a former national leader; but he's still making public statements to a large, national audience. And he's still influencing the opinions of millions. Granted they're millions of cousin-fucking, varmint-stewing, GOP-voting hillbillies, but nevertheless.
And he's still POTENTIALLY the GOP presidential candidate for 2024. Yes, I struggle to believe that crap as well. But until someone better comes along - like a Tennessee drawl reincarnation of Adolph Hitler ("Bubba Dolph Bo Hiddler"?) - the GOP-hers plan to reelect Trump.
So he's still pretty relevant. And that's leaving aside his control over the Republican party.
