Could anyone tell me if they know of a restaurant in Toronto that serves takeout Chinese food in those boxes like we see on TV often ?

Sorry about probably the stupidist thread ever but I would like to know if it exists in Toronto?

Thanks

In the US, it's always those boxes. Here it's the styrofoam containers. I don't think they have them here.

I think those boxes would get soggy and leak. Cardboard's not waterproof.

They used to have them at the Pagoda in Hamilton on Concession Street, just east of Upper Sherman.

If you ordered breaded shrimp, they came in "those boxes"

If you ordered wet stuff, they came in circular cardboard containers with a flat lid that pressed into a recess around the top and originally featured a staple for you to grab which was eventually replaced by a card board tab (safer having almost eaten a staple once as a kid)

Years ago yah. Have not seen in past 15-20 years though.

I remember this one place in particular on Carlton near Jarvis. I use to go there all the time. It was directly across the street from Larry's Hideaway. I use to go there for take out after last call on regular basis. Lots of places in China town way back then used them as well.

they are coated with teflon to prevent that... just like a mcdonalds fry container or a tim horton's coffee cup.

Thai Express at the Eaton Centre has them. But they are in the food court near Sportschek and I don't believe they deliver.

There were some great ideas and special thanks to Eyeofthedragon for that idea. I really do need this for a special idea of mine, and that will do the trick for me-very appreciative for the link !

I will also check out Thai express-thank you B-69

I would like to order an Oriental SP pop out of a giant chinese take-out box, B-day cake style!

Shack,

Those containers do not leak, they are made of a single piece of plastic coated waxed paper. sort of like a milk container material.
