There were three baby cardinals on my patio this afternoon. Then what I assume was the father showed up (a big red cardinal). Two of the babies were starting to get some red (males) and the little brown one would be the female. I think the mother was in the tree. They're noisy little guys!

If you like owls, here is a link to a live webcam inside a nest box occupied by a female Barred Owl and three baby owls who hatched last week. I think the brown thing on her left is a dead squirrel delivered by her mate, who brings her food while she is keeping the owlets covered and warm.

I put out some sunflower seeds and peanuts.
Owls could teach Samuel L Jackson a thing or two about being a BMF - love em. I could leave my garbage bags outside at night knowing they wouldn't be ripped up in the morning. Raccoons fear them. I'm pissed that the Humber Trail is barricaded, wanted to check how the nests got through the winter.
The civetta (owl) had fallen out of it's nest and was rescued by video makers. They nursed her back to health and spent quite a bit of time during her captivity on the ledge. Her name was Anacleto, she eventually flew away.
