OK is getting close to the opening of the CFL season barring any lockout/strike etc. With 9 teams 4 east 5 west is it time to expand to "even it up"? Could they grow to a 12 team League? IN CANADA !!!
Forget that US blunder of the 90's!

A team in Quebec City would do well as football in that Province is strong.Look at the success of the Laval Rouge et Or'e the past ten years.

Could a team in the Atlantic Region work? Hamilton Toronto have played pre season games there in the past with much support from the fans. Could the London/Western Ontario area support a team? I think there are too nanny fans in Windsor that support the Lions for a team down in that area.

Could there be another team in the west? Hell could there be a second Toronto team? Don't forget back in the early sixties there WERE two teams in Toronto although different Leagues. The Argos in the CFL and the Toronto Rifles in the Continental a Football League coached by Leo Cahill.
The main issue would be stadiums but Montreal plays at a 25,000.00 seat facility,Hamilton played at Univ. of Guelph last year approx 18,000.00 it could be done with additional seating brought in. IMHO a25,000.00 stadium is ideal for the CFL. Use the bigger venues like Rogers,Olympic,BC for play offs Grey Cup etc.

Just thinking as they say!

Good thread! I am a CFL fan and an NFL fan. The CFL has some exciting games and is great to watch live. I have Ottawa RedBlacks season tickets and I am looking forward to having football back in the Nation's Capital.

I would like to see the CFL add another team in the east to make it a ten team league. It is mostly a matter of an acceptable stadium to play in, be it in Quebec City or Halifax/Moncton etc. Most CFL stadium's hold at least 25,000, which is about the minimum. Personally, I think QC would be the most likely.

The CFL is much more healthy now than it was in the past. Teams are making money. Even the Blue Bombers made a few million last year with a crappy team. New stadium helping keep people coming out. There are new stadium's opening in Hamilton and Ottawa this year. The RedBlacks have sold about 16,00 season tickets so far and may sell out every game this year at the 25,000 seat TD Place.

The Alouette's have said they won't switch to the Big O for playoff games in the future. Likely because they have lost the last few playoff games played there.

It appears the Argos will remain at Rogers Center.

Look at it like the bar lights are coming up, blackie.

When the bouncers announce...."You don't have to go home, but you can't stay here."

I think the deal will get done that BMO will be made CFL capable, with MLSE owning the Argos. But the Jays are putting grass in the dome, which means the 100 level seats will be fixed in place for baseball, no more football conversion. Where the Argos play isn't Rogers' problem.

I think Halifax or Quebec City could support a team better than London could. Plus I think Laval's stadium actually is capable of being expanded into a CFL stadium. London and Halifax have nothing remotely suitable now, or even possibly made suitable. Moncton I don't think has the population around it
