ok, I never received the envelope, Canada Post lost it. What happens next?
Who received by mail a yellow envelope with a code to access the form online?

Is it voluntary?
What happens if you ignore it?
I'm never at home, working late, etc.

So they won't find me.

What happens next?

Thanks.
I'll guess you'd try to get out of jury duty.

FFS, suck it up buttercup. It's these questions that give the governments some information to make plans and budgets for the next few years. they use it to plan transit, highways, schools, shopping mall, hospitals, and the like. Stop being such a moroon.

Yup, they will come to your house and keep coming until they get the thing filled out. I have some senior friends who do that job, they love going out for a walk and talking to people about the damned form. Fill it in.

So easy to do on-line- takes about 10 mins.
unless of course you get selected to complete the extended household survey like i was and that added an additional hour to my first 10 minutes. If this happens to you be warned they want a lot more than just name and address.

if there is no compliance. they leave a written warning to comply or face sanctions. after that it is turned over to the legal system.

The extended household survey is voluntary It replaces the mandatory long form census that Harper trashed.

Even if it is voluntary I haven't seen this census before. I was already in to it by the time i realized I had gone a few clicks too many. By then I was already 1/4 of the way through it.

For some of you that complain to fill out the census, do you know why the government needs this information? Did you ever think out the reasons why in the world would they want all this information? There are numerous reasons, such as the transfer payments from feds to the provinces, so if you don't fill out the census we get short changed here in Ontario. There are dozens of other planning reasons and FYI, Canada is one of the best and most respected countries in the world when it comes to census, so do your part.

This is always worth a repeat. It's clear some don't get it.

Drop it back in the mail with a note written on it, "no one lives here" :)
That's not entirely impossible. My house has a basement apartment that I choose not to rent out, but it still shows up on all gov lists as an independent address, so I got two yellow envelopes.

I agree. But I don't know why they have to ask my name, my religion, where I work, what I do in my spare hours, my hobbies, etc.
