If I call someone who subscribes to Name Display, will they see my name? I am pretty sure the answer is yes but what I want to get to is that can I get my carrier to take my name off so that no matter what, my name does not get shown even if someone has this feature?

Rogers and Bell have restriction on number and name permanently
However ROgers phones (i got a samsung) can be restricted by the user. I just go to tools and restrict number temporarily and then un restrict when Im making calls to the ladies lol

I don't think this works with "800" numbers and some agencies have agency numbers. Try this next time you call an "800" number and ask the person at the other end if he/she can see your number.

But isn't that for number? I just want name. I don't mind if my number shows up. By the way, this doesn't have anything to do with calling SP's or that. I thought they don't take blocked calls?

I figure I post here as I'm sure a lot of guys know how to stay incognito.

I have a Rogers account for my cell phone. They can set your profile to display your name or your number on the phone you're dialing. But you have to call and request a switch if you have been operating with your name visible and want to go number only. I presume Bell has a similar approach.

I have an I phone. I just go into settings then go into the phone app. and turn off my "name". As far as SPs go, many will not answer blocked callers or unknown e mails. I always let the girls know who I am when I book something whether it's an Indy or a spa. Living in Hamilton I always book my appts. by e mail or text to save long distance charges.

1.Did you ask your carrier, I know many people that have successfully assigned whatever name they wanted to their number. One SP I know, only her initials show on the name display
2. You can tell your carrier you have a part - time home business, you want to assign your number to the part-time business (such as Funquest Plumbing Serv )
but you wish to keep the billing info the same.

I'm with Fido and they will allow you to use whatever name you wish. My bill comes in my legal name but both my phones display "nick-names" that I have asked Fido to use.

Thanks for all the advice. I called Roger's and because of my plan, they can't access the feature to enable/disable the name.

Get a competitive quote from Bell or Telus, call Rogers back and ask for Customer Retentions. Tell them you're planning to switch, unless they can match the competitive plan .... which includes disabling your name display.

I have a blackberry that I use for business, only numbers never a name show up when you guys call. I'm not sure why anyone of us would bother with name display... For me it's not that important.
