The British Royal Family is as useless as it gets.

Where GWB is concerned, I have no idea how this guy managed to get himself into a position where he could become president of the most powerful nation on earth. Clinton and Reagan had a charisma and a commanding presence that would make a room revolve around them. Trudeau had that as well as an incredible intellectual mystique. Bush has NONE of these things! If anything, he comes off as a complete idiot. It's amazing what sorts of deficiencies having the right last name and class privilege can overcome.

Bush was basically an anti-Clinton vote. People weren't so pro-Bush as they were anti-Clinton. Bush was the opposite of Clinton (non-smooth talker, blunt, non-crafty, non-condensending, dumb, etc....). People were so sick of Clinton that lots of them didn't even focus on the politics of the two candidates in 2000. I mean how shocking was it that a candidate who was the vice prez of an administration that led the US economy to record growth and had the economy behind him and the endorsement of the current prez lose (or have it close for those of you who feel the elction was stolen)?

Love him or loath him, no one ever really "gets" Micheal Jackson, do they? We know how he got famous, but how the guy works I think we'll just never know.

And the Air Farce cast and Benny Hill are pretty much in the same realm for me. They're the comedy equivalent of that creepy drunk red-faced uncle who comments on how your tits are growing and asking if you have a boyfriend yet, or that cooger aunt who jokes loudly at the table about how fat you've gotten and you better nab a husband before it's too late: it gives you that uncomfortable stiff wincing half-smile, you'd like to be all jolly and share their humour, but really you're vicariously embarassed and uncomfortable on their behalf for how obnoxious and unfunny they are and you wish someone would take their bottle o' hooch away and send them to bed.
