The Kirk story is a great one and I really enjoyed his break through season. I voted for starters in the All Star game for the first time just to get him in. However it makes no sense for the Jays to carry 3 catchers, and for a variety of reasons, some already mentioned, he is the most logical candidate to move. His value may never be higher and his weight could become an issue that affects performance soon. He's a great contact hitter but doesn't run well. Slow runners clog up the bases and/or need to be replaced for a pinch runner when scratching for runs in a tight game. This complicates bench management and reduces options. With his athletisism, Moreno has the highest ceiling. He may be able to learn another position but that would take time and means moving one of the established position players. Janssen is the only experienced play caller of the three and he added pop to his bat this summer. It will be sad if Kirk is traded but.... Whichever catcher they trade, I hope they get someone really good in return that helps them win.
