Exactly, how would we ever know what an insignificant pathetic bastard WIYD is if it was deleted oops.

Agree .

Rhetorical question : If you don't "care" why do you think that anyone needs to know that ? It's not as if an opinion from this person actually matters to anyone .

Someone made a good quote - It's one thing to die for your country, but another thing entirely to die because of your country.

Maybe we'll learn that's why no one buys much of the military crap the Brits make. The only thing half decent they made was the Harrier, and even that took the Americans to redesign and fine tune it to get it where it ended up.

That comment is so full of crap, it's not worth discussing.
ALL pre-purchase comments regarding these submarines, and the British building tradition, were exceptional ones.
Opinions are like assholes. Especially ones in hindsight ....

Why can't we just wait to buy new subs when we can afford them instead of souping up these beaters?

Does CSIS know something I don't? Hardly.

I think military spending is required, but their prioritization process sucks.

Canadians want better military equipment, free healthcare, lower tuition fees, welfare, unemployment insurance, better roads, more subsidized housing, etc... and lower taxes. Where are you going to get the money?

Who's building these "new subs" we're going to buy? How much more are they going to cost than the ones we've leased with an option? How long do we have to wait, with our old Oberon-class, until we've saved up enough money for these?

If you took the billion from the HRDC rip-off, and the billion from the gun registry, that would buy a lot of military hardware. If the gov. would start putting money where it MATTERS it would make a large difference.

Our forces are some of the best in the world (trained & dedicated)... if they had the equipment to go with the training then we wold truly have something to be proud of. As it is I think we owe them all a great deal for "making due".

We as Canadians must decide whether we want a military at all... if we do then we MUST give them the equipment to do the job. The situation we have now is very very sad.

As the saying goes - "crap or get off the pot".

I think that that was very true until recently. However, my understanding is that for the last few years they have spent so much time on overseas deplorments that they have not had enough time to conduct all the training that once made them some of the best trained in the world.
