Ok everyone, take a deep breath and relax.

This is what is called capitalism. Capitalism at work, working for both you and I. Capitalism, a finely tuned and honed economic system that serves that interests of human kind.

Sheesh, where is TERB's sole billionaire when we need him to explain that everything is functioning as it should to the bleating unwashed masses.

Except the companies are double dipping, raising the price and shrinking the sizes at the same time. and no you can't "it is what it is" this shit when these motherfuckers are turning around and announcing record profits year over year. and blatantly saying "we can blame it on inflation" in their earnings calls.
This is not the grocery stores

All you have to do is look at their quarterly earnings reports/
Their revenue keeps going up, but their profits keep going down. That means that even though they are taking in more money, they're not making any profit from it.

This is the supply chain that is adding on hit after hit at every stage of the chain. The issue is, why is the supply chain so fucked up still? Covid is over from a business perspective.

Quick! Check the condom sizes! If they start feeling tight, it is likely that your wee wee is not growing any larger.....
There should be a TV commercial for condoms similar to the one for tampons....

Amy Shumer can still be the pitch woman...

Amy hears a terrified shriek coming from the bedroom....

'Uh-Oh! Someone just lost their boner! You know, condoms come in many different sizes! If it hurts to pull on and wear during sex, go up a size. If it constantly slips off during doggy or anal, go down a size! If she keeps accidentally swallowing it during hard core blowjobs, buy her the Bulemic's Pocket Guide to Self-induced Vomiting! It's time to start doing Durex right!'

Big yogurt tubs.
Lid stays the same size,
Stays the same height, since designed to optimally fit into a milk crate two layers deep.

I can recall over the years 1000ml, then down bit by bit to over time to 650ml of today.

I am waiting for them to start to have a punt in the bottom like some wine bottes on the next shrink, or they will start to not stand on their own.

My personal favorite ia how some packaging is clearly designed to "show" the product inside like a burrito or something but also has a label in the middle with the product info and then you open the package and it surprises you by being empty where the label was

Or the box is the same size but there's a bunch of cardboard at the top or bottom.

I never said it was specific to the grocery stores, they have their part to play in this whole shit but do you think grocery stores package all the products themselves? Did you somehow think I thought that grocery stores package all their shit?

Well no food production companies I have heard of have announced record profits year over year. Certainly none that the mainstream news has reported on. The only companies who have announced anything that have been in the news has been Grocery stores, and the only thing for them that has broken records lately is the revenue. Which is expected when all the food items cost more. They were reporting record profits during the Covid lockdown, but that was before inflation, and primarily due to their Home delivery services that they established during that time.
They haven't been reporting record profits since the food inflation has started.

They are in collusion. Loblaws can ask the producers to package it a certain way and they'll do it.

Bottom line, we're getting ripped off. The "by who" is less important.

Read a report last year that Loblaw Corp. in 2021 had the highest net profit in their history. Also, my big pet peeve in grocery and other retail stores that use self checkouts to save on the cost of requiring additional staff which are mostly young part time workers is when I am asked to use one, my reply is "What is the discount that I get by using them so that your company can earn even bigger profits."

They should offer a discount to us for doing half the work for them at self-checkouts. We scan and bag the stuff that's work we are doing and the labor cost they are saving.

With obesity rates as high as they are, it is a good thing that we’re all being forced to reduce our caloric intake.
That's EXACTLY what they told us behind the Iron Curtain when we had food shortages. No meat? "Research shows" that vegetarian diet is more beneficial. No butter? "Research shows" that margarine is healthier. No sugar in the stores? "Research shows" that sugar is the root of all evil. No clothes? Fashion exacerbates social envy, etc. And my favorite- no ice cream? Kids in Africa don't even know what is ice cream. The more things change...

This was before the inflation started. And many grocery stores were reporting this around that time. It was primarily due to the grocery delivery services that many of them launched during Covid, and the straight profit markup that is charged on the convenience of shopping from home and getting it delivered.
