Degrasse ran the 200m at a Canadian record of 19.80 and looks like he could go faster for the finals. 19.70 perhaps???
He looked really strong and he says he has a lot more left in the tank for the finals. Seems a lock for at least silver.
Can he do the unthinkable tomorrow and take down the great Bolt ?

Melissa Bishop in 800M versus the likes of Caster S. who'll be tough to beat. She runs around 815pm in semis. GO Melissa GO! Then the #DeBolt race at 930pm while the decathlon concludes. It will be a great day at the track!

Awesome for Wiebe.

If Damien Warner can make up the deficit and take gold, Canada will attain prominence in track & field.

Melisa Bishop made me look up Eganville. She is a charismatic young woman with sex appeal to spare. But what chance does she have against a runner with abnormal levels of testosterone? Caster Semenya had to run while taking drugs to balance her hormones and her time fell. But the rule was challenged in court by another runner that is testosterone loaded, in court and overturned. I wish Sexy Missy all the best but it will be tough.

De grasse finished silver to a dominating gold by Bolt. Bolt actually ran hard to the line. he knew ADG would be sneaking up.
Great race.

Congrats also to Megan Benfieto for her 2nd bronze in diving.

Warner wins bronze in decathlon.

Weibe wins gold in wrestling. Cdn ladies carrying the team.

I think he deliberately let up this time so as not to steal Bolt's gusto (looked like he was trying harder when he caught up to Bolt in the semis) who just won again with another clocked 19.78 secs... Either what I'm saying is true OR the nerves actually got to him and he choked a bit under the pressure. Nevertheless, a silver in the 200m finals is still damned impressive for an Olympic rookie...

The entire field ran .25s slower due to the wet track. Bolt ran harder than the semi and leaned at the line to get 19.78.

There was head wind against them, that could explain why most of the field ran .25s slower, including DeGrasse. Bolt might've been able to reach 19.50 -19.60 secs if there was no wet turf or wind resistance slowing them all down I'm guessing...

De Grasse let up just a little bit, it seemed to me he didn't want to steal Bolt's lightning. Either Puma got involved to set up their co-pitchmen or De Grasse didn't want to take the risk that Bolt might come back for Tokyo.

I agree with that mostly. Also, if De Grasse happened to win by some stroke of luck, he'd probably be booed throughout the entire stadium, since Bolt was clearly the fan favourite (the cheers were deafening whenever he enters the stadium or sprints. De Grasse just had to make sure Bolt was ahead of him. Ever wonder why sports broadcasters, even racers and sports commentators are now referring to their races as "performances"?

Actually the top Canadians in vball play in many of the Euro leagues as pros. The leagues have different tiers similar to soccer.

Just heard Andre say on the radio, "He ran away from me and I just couldn't catch him. It is what it is".
Can you guys just not accept that Bolt just won and someone didn't let him win? smh
If Andre was holding back, the way that group was bunched together behind Bolt, he would have run the risk of getting 0 medals.
You think he would do that to let Bolt win?
Sometimes athletes, celebs and actors are told by "outside parties" to say certain things or have to follow a certain script to appease the audience and satisfy their sponsors. "It is what it is", you shouldn't always accept what you see or hear at face value, especially during highly publicized events...

Great day 13 for Team Canada with biggest medal haul in one day in 20 years. Also great performances by Brooke on the course and 4x100 teams making finals, my girl Melissa showing she's ready for Caster and strong showings for some of our lesser known Canadians. And today, in less than 2 minutes the ladies will have to beat the odds and the crowd in trying for football bronze against Brasil.....Team Canada is digging in for the stretch run....Go Canada Go..!

Dunfee also helped motivate this French speed walker to continue in his race after he gave up and didn't want to continue, probably from injuries of some sort or he was just disheartened. Great sportsmanship shown by Dunfee...

Edit: Japan protested and the ruling was overturned, Dunfee lost his bronze medal...

If we can maintain and finish in a top 10 position for total medals earned, I'll be happy with that result. I just wish we had more gold and silvers like we usually do in the Winter Olympics (we generally do better during the winter games I think personally).
