I backpacked Thailand for several months in 94, this was before Dicaprio made The Beach, before everyone and their brother flocked there, and the girls did say constantly, “I love you long time, I love you short time” never partook, was too young and nervous. But the stereotype is rooted in reality. I really don’t mind what I’m called by an SP, unless it’s obviously derogatory, as long as we treat each other with mutual respect and kindness. It’s nice to make a connection but the reason I’m in their company in the first place isn’t to chat or make friends. It’s to fuck.I know!
When I was in Thailand, I was handing a girl off to my friend and she said, "but you said you love me long time?"
I'm still laughing about that line...and she said it only cuz I brought it up as a joke. They don't actually say that over there, but she was sharp enough to pick up on that. What a sweetie she was!
