I cannot imagine any text or phone conversation when SP will need to call someone by name or nickname. It is not like there are many people in the room and you will not know whom she is talking to. Even if you are lost in her in-call bathroom, she can still say "Hi there, how you are doing?" without calling you by anything.

Wouldn't "mate" in the UK be something guys use with each other? Like guys here use "buddy" or "dude" use with each other? Wouldn't "mate" be weird coming from a woman to a guy?

For me, "hun" is the absolute worst.
It immediately puts a picture in my mind of an old, saggy, unhealthy woman with a gravelly voice.
