English is widely spoken in India and while I have heard accents, they've been perfectly understandable. The accent is unimportant to me...I just want good service. If I could trade the annoying Fido and Rogers call centre experience to speak to someone with an accent who is well informed and efficient...that would be cool with me.

What is your point?
I live in CANADA and I speak ENGLISH.
If I have a need to call one of my service providers that I PAY FOR, then I expect the experience to be easy and seamless... not a struggle due to language barriers.
My point is, Canadians have accents too. If your service provider can't have call centers within Canada, then you should expect some minor language misunderstandings on both sides of the fence. Not everyone in the world has English as their native language. It takes a bit getting used to.

India has one of the largest pool of people who can speak/write/read English relatively well. As long as the call center agent does his job well and helps you out efficiently, the accent shouldn't be an issue imo.

The last time I renewed my OHIP card I couldn't understand a word, so it's not just outsourcing that's a problem.
