Who forced you to buy a vehicle that uses 17'', 18''or 19'' tires?
If you want to buy a car with 15'' rims go ahead. Many cars still come with 15'' tires.
The vehicle I wanted came with these asinine over-sized tires.
It was a good buy so it was 'leased' and am happy with it so far.... knock on wood. I did the same on a prior vehicle also because it had asinine over-sized tires. The tires lasted for the lease term, as they were expected to, so there wasn't any worry about having to purchase a new set of expensive asinine over-sized tires, TY.....

So no one forced you to use bigger tires?

I was lucky and through leasing was able to dodge that bullet.
Others may not be as lucky and are FORCED and saddled with those expensive asinine over-sized tires that ARE NOT NEEDED! Point IS cars should still have 13, 14, 15" tires NOT these expensive asinine over-sized tires FORCED on them!....;)

Leasing only drive the prices up

You are one of many who believe you are saving cash when you have nothing to show for it.

I hope you are proud of your adding to the loss of the middle class

If people stopped buying those cars with the "over-sized" tires manufacturers would stop making them.

That's be the next thing - you have to replace two at a time.

Canadian Tire now won't rotate your tires if it means putting the more worn ones on the back (the front wears faster).
Seems like BS to me, but they claim you are better to have a tire fail on the front than the back. With this justification they you will very quickly wear out the front tires in a new set of 4.

Just curious... How did you manage to get a nail in the sidewall?
Just for further clarification - how far up in the sidewall is the nail?

I've had certain shops call a nail an "un-repairable, sidewall" hit before, when it was still in the tread portion (shoulder, granted, but still in a completely repairable area) - took it to a tire speciality shop, who had no problems repairing it...

Before you write the tire off, may want a second opinion...

That said, if it IS unrepairable - replace both tires on that axle, if there's any appreciable wear on the tires... With modern traction control and ABS systems, a relatively minor difference in tire diameter (which translates to rotational speed to the car's computers) - can cause issues... If it's an AWD, you're best to replace all 4, but now you're getting into big bucks.

As usual your 'stream of unconsciousness logic' makes no sense!.....:D

There are some excellent leasing deals being offered now in WNY. Just saw a TV ad a couple minutes ago for a new 2011 Malibu for $99/month! How 'pray tell' is that driving prices up cupcake??? Amuse us a bit and expand on your above post???....

Nope!
They are selling them like hotcakes, only folks are not looking ahead at replacement costs or plan like me, to dump the vehicle for another before tires need replacement....;)

Hard to argue with a guy who thinks a 1972 Grand Torino is a "performance car" ! <snicker>
Pay attention rubes.....

Never said mine was a performance car!
Said 'we had' performance cars that would easily blow away what is out today!

That said, a 1972 Grand Torino GTS ordered with a Boss 429 V8, WAS one of them performance Muscle cars....:eyebrows:

Oh and on the topic of those great tires of the sixties and seventies...

How many times do you see a car on the side of the highway with a blown out tire nowadays?

I recall going to the cottage as a kid and the 400 always had cars off to the side up on a jack.

Yeah... the good old days of the redline Firestone F70 Polyglass GT bias ply tires!

I hear they have been outlawed in all motorsports as their technology provides an unfair advantage!
Jack must have been pretty popular!!

I've pumped many a jack at the side of the 4 double doughnut , in the old days. Not there was anything wrong with that.

Thing with jack was, he always eventually let you down.

Let you down yes, but not before he managed to get you up. So, you are openly admitting that Jack gets you up? What does Harper do for you?
