Since OCTranspo operates in both Ontario and Quebec, it's federally regulated. Because the Liberals, NDP, and Bloc decided to try to undo the results of the last election, the House was prorogued. Because the House isn't sitting, it would take an order-in-council to do anything about the strike, and that really isn't going to happen.good to go said:Why are they not just legislated back to work.
So you are blaming the continued bus strike on the Liberals, NDP and Bloc when Mike Baird has repeatedly said that the CONSERVATIVES will not declare them an essential service and order the drivers back to work? Nicely done. I think I'll declare the global recession on Geraldo given that makes just as much sense.Anynym said:Since OCTranspo operates in both Ontario and Quebec, it's federally regulated. The Liberals, Bloc and NDP tried to make the government respect the results of the last election. Because keeping power is more important to Harper than actually governing he prorogued the House, and because of that they can't be legislated back to work before next week. You can't order people back to work by OiC.Anynym said:Since OCTranspo operates in both Ontario and Quebec, it's federally regulated. The Liberals, Bloc, and NDP are the ones who are not respecting the results of the election. The Conservatives won the most seats and garnered the most votes. They ARE the Government. Absolutely no one voted for a Liberal-NDP-Bloc alliance. They have NO mandate.thompo69 said:The Liberals, Bloc and NDP tried to make the government respect the results of the last election. The government is not the party with the most seats, it is the party (or parties) that command the confidence of the House. That's how parliamentary democracy works. Despite Harper's dreams, we do not have a presidential system.Mike62 said:The Liberals, Bloc, and NDP are the ones who are not respecting the results of the election. Ah. So given that the city has not made such a request, you admit that your claim that this strike is ongoing because parliament was prorogued was a red herring. Thank you.Anynym said:declaration of OCTranspo as an essential service would not be done unilaterally by any federal government. At best, it would only be done at the request of the City of Ottawa.
The renegade Bloc has the confidence of no one. Hell, during their Conservative mandated "timeout" the Liberals gave the boot to their "leader" and installed a new knucklehead. That really instilled some confidence, lemme tell ya!thompo69 said:The government is not the party with the most seats, it is the party (or parties) that command the confidence of the House. Not at all. And if you re-read what I posted, you'll find that I never said anything about why the strike is ongoing. I addressed a question about the possibility for union members to be legislated back to work.VelvetCyclone said:Ah.
