The renegade Bloc has the confidence of no one. Hell, during their Conservative mandated "timeout" the Liberals gave the boot to their "leader" and installed a new knucklehead. That really instilled some confidence, lemme tell ya!
How do we know who has confidence and who doesn't? Harper refused to allow a vote of confidence in the House.

The FEDS are just a bunch of dead heads!!

At this point only BARACK OBAMA can do something.
We are not gonna see any buses on the road any time soon unless someone grows some balls and kicks these bus drivers/kidnappers/terrorists in the ass to get back to work.
THEY HAVE IT TOOOO FRIGGEN GOOD.
I hope they all lose their jobs and some other people that APPRECIATE the jobs get them.

they will tell the public not to take it out on the driver when service resumes...

I'd say we should take it out on them as the last vote, i think 75% of them reject the offer ... so.... if you take it out on each driver, 75% of the time you will be right.

Finally a place were you can actually get the facts about the bus strike forget all these arm chair politicians (and the liberals have proved over the past 100 years that they are conservatives with out balls). But here it is I have remained silent on the whole issue because I felt extremely uniformed now I have all the answers!

i think a lot of the drivers are making a lot more than they should complain about...especialy with paid leave benifits and a very generous pension plan

But they're not arguing over money, they want to be able to do their own scheduling, just like all the other working stiffs!

How much are the drivers really getting ome said 25K others say 75K another says as much as 100K???? what are the real numbers???
There's ONE driver that made over 100k last year, according to the papers....

I know a few drivers, about 90% of them work 40 hours a week, wage is $24/hour and change. Gross pay is around $50k per year.
Then they have to bend over - union dues, benefit levy, pension premiums, health premiums, yada yada......

It'll never happen, and it doesn't happen, the company - OC Transpo - puts the schedules together, the drivers pick from what's available. That's the way it has always been, and that's the way it'll always be.

City Council voted in the fall to not make OC Transpo an essential service.

I have been hearing rumors that some bus drivers are making as much as $120-$150K ; no wonder they want control of scheduling (read overtime).

But it is a matter of money. The reason the drivers want to do their own scheduling is because under the current system they can easily exploit a loophole in the system that allows them to profit from the "buddy" system.

Essentially drivers coordinate amongst themselves predetermined sick days with buddies. The driver orginaly scheduled on books of "sick" at the last minute but had previously advised a buddy to book on as standby for that same shift. The originally scheduled driver still recieves full pay for the day and the standby driver receives full pay and bonus/overtime for being called in at the last minute.

The same scenario repeats it's self later on with the drivers swapping the role of standby driver. The union currently does the scheduling, this buddy system wouldn't work to the advantage of the driver if the city were to manage the system.

The city has a responsibility to get a handle on the overtime situation and this is the best way how, the uninon and it's membership stand to loose a lot of money if they can no longer schedule themselves and thus we find the two sides a logger heads

It's games like this that have some drivers earning very comfortable salaries in some cases close to six digits.

Don't get me wrong these men and women have tough jobs and should be fairly compensated for their efforts, but when we are 44 days into a strike because the union doesn't want to loose control over a situation that we all pay for in tax dollars and ridiculously high bus fares, i say enough is enough.

I've been doing my part as a I roam the streets on horseback offering rides whenever I can.
