From what occured tonight from Brock Lesnar at UFC 100.....................

No respect for martial arts and the honour it entails
No respect for an opponent who tried to show respect for him
No respect for fans who pay his salary and buy his gear
No respect for his wife and family
No respect for his boss and those who got him to where he is
No respect for his sponsors and backers

Brock Lesnar set the UFC back 10 years tonight

The UFC was once a joke, all MMA fighters and administrators like Dana White worked very hard to change that image, it is now a joke again

Brock Lesnar is a disgrace as a fighter
Brock Lesnar is a disgrace and a classless human being

Brock Lesnar is an asshole

Brock is showing his WWE trash talk training.

But I bet it just brings more publicity to the UFC.

But not the publicity they want. I watched the fight with about 10 other long time MMA fans and we all had the same opinion.

Relax drama queen. Brock has plenty of respect for the fighting arts. He trains hard in MMA, and has wrestled for 15 years of his life.

He didn't set the UFC back at all. The UFC is getting more popular with him. He's the guy that will draw Fedor in for a superfight. The UFC HW division lacked a star. Brock draws. He's got the tank Abbott interview style the fans love to hate. He's got you melting down already. He's in your head.

I love Lesnar as a fighter, but I wish he would tone done the WWE stuff. Mir has a big mouth, and has pretty disrespectful of Lesnar before the fight, so he somewhat had it coming. But I prefer the Henderson approach for shutting up people with big mouths.

People complain and moan but deep down it gets them even more excited and draws their attention even more to the next Lesner fight so that they can root to see him get KO'ed.

Sports need interesting characters, even if they are antagonistic. Bland does not sell. Bland does not get on ESPN.

In the NFL, people hate T.O. They hate Ochocinco. They hate Jerry Jones and the Cowboys. Whatever. That hate also brings in ratings.

Remember... Ali was quite a trash talker in his day. Arrogant too. He's this great hero now but man was he a character back in his day. And man did he bring excitement to the sport.

Lesnar did a great job tonight. Mir got what he deserved! Calling Brock after his fight against Nogeuira, and saying Brock cried Uncle in their last fight.
Thanks for shutting him up Lesnar! He is progressing as an MMA fighter, and there is no need to interpret his passion and aggressiveness as a way of disrespecting the UFC, the sport or his wife. So he disrespected his wife because he said he's going to lay on her tonight?? Please grow up! What is this boar all about?

There is no such thing as "bad" publicity.

Well I guess we have real "villan" now. I know it's a guaranteed ratings booster but It's just not my cup of tea. Give me the calm and coolness of Fedor any day of the week over this in your face disrespect stuff. Maybe I'm just from a different generation I don't know.

The real hardcore fan just wants to see a good fight. It's the fight that that they are interested in, not all the nonsense.

However for the UFC, like any sport, to really generate revenue, you need to attract the casual fans to really make it. And you do that will drama and theatrics and such. Just like how the NHL was hyping up Crosby vs Ovechkin and play those comments of Crosby criticizing Ovechkin's over the top celebrations and trying to create some drama. The NHL was looking to attract the casual fan because they knew the hardcore hockey fan will watch regardless. You knew the NBA was practically begging for a LeBron/Kobe final. It's all to capture the imagination of the causal fan. You need star power or some other attraction. The San Antonio Spurs and Utah Jazz are two very winning franchises in the NBA. But they don't get the publicity they deserve because they are cool and efficient and considered boring (but not to me). Tim Duncan is great... but boring. Hence despite his 3 championships, it's Allen Iverson or Dwight Howard or Chris Paul or Melo who get a lot more publicity and jersey sales even though the number of titles they have won combined is zero.

Be it MMA or boxing -remember one thing. One of the, or for some; THE greatest all time boxer, Ali was also a world class shit talker. And yes, he brought fans to the sport. His controversial aura did attact fans and detractors alike BUT at the end of the day it generated interest in the sport.

I agree with Don, be it Duncan in basketball, Mauer in baseball -efficient, skillful but boring. In the end it's controversy that will always pull the casual fan to a sport.

I don't have a problem with Lesnar. Mir did open his trap as well -and Lesnar shut it for him. The fun begins when the champ will, and it happens; gets knocked down. That's why people hate the Yankees or Lakers, or United...the list goes on and on.

Pete Sampras and Roger Federer are the greatest tennis players of all time - but whenever they get on the mic it makes people beg for John MacEnroe.

A Lesnar - Fedor fight is a pick em at this point.

I didn't watch the fight, but I gather Lesnar won and was talking like an idiot before and after? Anyone have a link to article or video so that I can get a better idea of what happened last night, other than the trash talk?

edit: okay, I got it - mmahacks.com
I wish someone would explain what Lesnar did to earn the title of Heavyweight Asshole of the World though.

GSP totally dominated his fight. Alves could have/should have been more competitive to make it a better fight.

HAHAHA!!! I LOVE the drama. Brock and Dana (and the Fertittas) are laughing their way to the bank right now!

If you want to watch MMA for the "purity of the sport" or to see real, "honourable" martial artists, then go watch amateur tournaments. UFC and other professional MMA is a business, plain and simple. Pay-per-view buy rates are a HUGE part of that. Brock sells PPV - he has averaged about a million buys per event he's fought on. People pay to see him win (some), see him lose (many) and to see if he's "just a fake rassler" (a few.)

These fighters put their lives on the line every time they climb into the cage and the average career is very short, so they should try and make what they can while they can. If that means being the "heel", then more power to 'em. Dana White and the UFC don't give a shit about the long-term financial and physical health of these guys (for proof: see the pay scale compared to the UFC revenues, the way they control the fighters' revenue streams all the way down to the minutiae of details) - it is up to the individual fighter to figure out how to maximize his earnings.

BTW, if Brock is a disgrace, what does that make Dana White? At least Lesnar gets in the cage and puts it on the line for anyone out there to shut him up. What does Dana do besides shoot his mouth off and ask the Fertittas for money? ;)

PS - I wonder how many posters in this thread got a Brock/Dana-like PM from the OP?!? Maybe it's just me... lol!

alot of that is adrenalin, when you interview someone right after a fight, you're going to get those responses.

For me the best part of the night was by far the henderson ko, awesome.

There goes all the large corporate sponsorships.

I really feel sorry for Brock. Even thought he defeated Frank Mir in a dominating fashion, he lost to himself in the very same fashion.
