I bought quite a few imported 12" singles at the Record Peddler across from Maple Leaf Gardens. The quality of these 12 inchers were superb, the vinyl was much harder and the volume of the recording was at a much higer level.

I bought a few things there after I moved back to Toronto in October, 1984. It was right around the time that the Christine Jessop/ Guy Paul Morin crime story was big news. I was in Toronto only once between July, 1969 and early October, 1984, for a week in summer, 1975.
Ron Tabac's death is perhaps the most tragic fubar.
He was struck by a car while riding his bicycle. He was taken to the hospital where doctors could find nothing wrong with him. He suddenly became abusive and was arrested. The police believing he was intoxicated put him in the drunk tank, he slipped into a coma and died. An autopsy revealed that he had a blood clot in his brain. Absolutely amazing singer!
